Finished?? What do you mean you're finished???

The neighborhoods don't have street names, there isn't a single business name on here, no planes on the runways at the airport...and on and on...[X(]

Actually, am I missing the Soviet flag on the map or did you not put one on here?

All kidding aside this is closer to a work of art than anything else, lucky for us it is a functional map as well. [&o]

Thanks for all the time and dedication it took to create it.

Good Hunting.

[:D] l forgot the planes! The reason there's no Soviet flag is there was no where to put it without text being overwritten or the area looking too cluttered so I decided against it.

Big. Roughly Division+ size. It will be about the middle push of Operation Zentrum (The Centre of "Centre", if you like [:D]). It pits the British Berlin Infantry Brigade with elements of the U.S. Berlin Brigade, Forces françaises à Berlin, and West Berlin Police BePo units against an East German Motorised Regiment, 2 Border Guards Regiments, the Soviet Berlin Brigade and other auxiliaries. Other East German units may enter the fray as the battle wears on.

This is the plan anyway, how it will play out depends on playtesting. I also have to build the data files first, which I've started doing.

A Small update: I've been working on the US Berlin Brigade Infantry battalions' TOE which was highly unusual to say the least. The line companies were part mechanized, part leg and had a Weapons platoon that was also part mech and part wheeled with M125 mortar carriers, and M151s armed with M67s. The squads were very heavy in anti-tank assets with M67 recoiless rifles, AT4 rocket launchers and also a Dragon launcher in each platoon. It should be interesting unit to use in the urban environment. The pic below shows a line company:

Plodder, that's really clever how you've placed some of the smaller lakes on hex boundaries and represent them as 1 (or 2) hex long streams. That's a great way of adding the smaller lakes to the map, and give the map more detail (and authenticity in this case).

Absolutely true, seeing the progress/evolution of this map was very instructive.

The only problem with doing them this way was the hexside obstacle ID numbers. Early on in the piece, I realised that they might be a problem so I printed a screenshot of the map and worked out the numbers by hand. I actually had to leave some out in the end, the lake in the Tiergarten for example, as getting the ID numbers to work proved impossible when they were there.

I've just finished adding the 42nd Engineer Co. to the OOB. I've had to add a few new units to the game for these guys to play with.
I've added the M128 GEMSS FASCAM dispenser, which I've mentioned in another thread, the M728 CEV which, with the M135 165mm gun, packs a wallop. Also the 5 ton dump truck and M88 recovery vehicle.
With the Engineer platoons, I've added satchel charges, roughly two per man so they're pretty much assault pioneers in this game.

I've just to add the MP company and Brigade HQ, then it's on to the British.[:)]

Interestingly enough, in 4 years of service as a Combat Engineer, I never one time saw a satchel charge.

Probably another example of doctrine not meeting reality. [:D] I got the info from FM 5-100 circa 1996. Did you do many urban exercises?

We did Fulda Gap exercises. Nothing urban about them.

Brilliant map work.

I was wondering, Plodder, is there a scenario included with this too, or is that coming in a later update?

Not yet. I'm currently working on the custom data file which is a combination of the American and British with scratch built French forces and West Berlin police forces. The Berlin garrison units had unique TO&E, which involves quite a bit of research as sources don't agree with what they had. So far, I've completed the US and about halfway through the British. Still got a ways to go but I'm having fun doing it. Plus, I'm learning bucket loads about Berlin, the Wall, and the forces there.
