Here is a link for a Berlin 85 scenario that omits the 20G Army (that formation, though stationed around Berlin, was slated to attack west with the rest of GSFG)

It does look excellent doesn't it? :)

I love the fonts used to name the areas and you've even named the roads - epic!

Just got to setup the scenario to redo Berlin '85 and we're off...

Once I've finished the map, I'll be full-bore into creating the data files. I've done a little bit with the Allies by merging the US and Brits, I'm still trying to find a good TO&E for the US Inf Btns as they had a pretty unique orbat. Then I'll add the West Berlin BePo units and the French. I'll have create most of the french units from scratch but that's half the fun. [:D]

Once that's done I'll create the East German/Soviet side which shouldn't be too difficult as all the weapons and organisations are already there, I'll just have to create orbats for the Border troops and Combat Groups of the Working Class (Party Militia).

After that it'll be creating the scenario, it's going to be a big one, I think.[:D]

Thanks, already got it. :) I've got a few german articles that deal with it too. The main article that got me interested is the one I linked to in the battlefield tour which was a piece in Armor magazine about Operation Stoss/Zentrum. There's also a Berlin scenario in Tiller's Danube '85 which is based on Stoss.

A quick update. Haven't got much labeling in during the last few days but after some more research, I found and added West Berlin's "forgotten" highways to the map. These were roads in West Berlin that were turned into Federal Highways due to the disruption of traffic flow due to the Wall and were needed for main routes. They were not numbered but assigned letters. Almost all of them were downgraded back to normal roads after reunification. They don't make a difference in the whole scheme of things but they give the map some more historical flavour.

Looks great.
Since you have US, UK, FR flags for the Berlin occupation zones, would it make sense to add a nice DDR flag for the Western part of the map?

I've been using a website called Typebrewer to select what fonts to use. This site is great for selecting fonts that go together for what ever theme you want (I'm using formal B). I'd recommend any mapmakers to check it out.

Thanks, its look very good.

Nice work, I look forward to seeing the finished article.[:)]

Another update, I've finished labeling all the roads and I've also done the landmarks. I'm now going to label the military installations next. Before I did that, I decided to redo Gatow airfield and the RAF base as it looked pretty shabby compared to Tempelhof and Tegel.I'm much happier with it now. Screenie below, there's no labels as they are on a separate file. My TODO list is starting to look a lot better with just a few things left to clean up before I hit the values editor:
TODO:

clean up trees around elevations
DONE - road join near wedding borough sign
DONE - clean tiergarten memorial
remove borough boundaries under river text
DONE - adjust B96 at top of map
DONE - add missing piece of B96a
DONE - Fix highway in Karl-Liebknecht-Straße
DONE - Add East German highways
DONE - find West Berlin Federal highways [1],[2],[5],[96],[101],[111](N/A),[179],[E],[R],[S],[Z]
Label autobahns and highways
move reinickerdorf locality label north a bit
move mitte locality
move tempelhof locality
DONE - add more of B R around saschendamm
DONE - road join at Teltower Weg in grunewald
DONE - redo Gatow Airport
DONE - realign Bundesallee
delete building in Volkspark Wilmersdorf.
remove forest from top of Drakenberg.
clean buildings up from falkener feld
fix highway join on spandauer damm and otto-suhr-allee

Thanks for the kind comments guys. This has been a real labour of love, I've also learnt a hell of a lot about Cold War Berlin.

Oh, and BTW, I'm finished. [:D]. I made some adjustments to the borough labels and I also added labels and badges for the main military bases. Just have to put it through the map values editor now..
