I have Windows 7 64x system.

I installed in accordance with the instructions.

Installation was no problem.

Unfortunately, the game crashes every few turns. It simply freezes up.

Any advice?

GTX 650 Nvidia is my graphics card.

There is a log folder in the main game directory. A log file gets created each day you play. If you check the log file for when your problem is occurring it may have some clue as to what is causing the crash.

If you post it here, perhaps someone can help.

I saw a couple of thing in the log I wasn't sure of. One of them looks like you are loading the game with a command line argument ( /c ). I'm not sure what that argument does but I don't think it is needed.

Also, it appears at least in some of the games it was trying to load a texture file but is not able to. I'm attaching a copy of that file. If you want to unzip it and copy it to the folder shown below.

c:\matrix games\panzer command ostfront\media\graphics\particles

Also, before any of the above, you might go into the initial configuration screen and change your screen resolution. It looks like you are using a fairly high resolution. You might try something like 1366 x 760 or 13666 x 768 just to see if that works.

Hi,

Im back into PCO after a few years ( I used to run it on Win XP and it was rather slow loading but played ok ) on my new system WIN 8.1 and its running like a dream.......really much more enjoyable now that its working so much faster.

I hope you can get yours working without problems

I installed the graphics file.

I launched the game as I did before because I don't know how to launch without command line argument /c

I changed the screen resolution to a lower. I could not find the resolution that you suggested.

Crashed to desktop again. Windows dialogue box said that it was looking for a solution.

Can you go to the game directory and try running PCOstfront.exe directly. Just double click on it.

Also, if you haven't tried it yet, try setting resolution to be the same as your screen resolution as another poster suggested.

Here's another attempt on my smaller computer that runs Winterstorm just fine.

This attempt uses the correct screen resolution and launches from the .exe file in the directory. Still crashes.

This line is what prompted my earlier comment re: command line arguments. I'm pretty certain I do not have this in my launch.

Are you using any mouse key learning software? ie, software that defines how your mouse or keyboard works?

The error that causes the crash appears to be this one:

but I think we checked that file already.

You would need to contact support here at Matrix. They should be able to help you with obtaining a new download.

On your large computer, if you could try to uninstall the game, turn off the mouse key learning software, install the game and try it. The /c command line argument must come from somewhere. when you installed it on your smaller computer, did you copy any files over from large one (besides the installation file)?

The only other thing that comes to mind is memory (not enough to load the texture), but I thought your system was plenty big enough for that.

My larger computer runs Battlefront's Red Thunder with no problems, so, no memory problem there.

Smaller computer specs:

16 GB of RAM

3.5 Ghz Six core processor

Nvidia GE force GTX 650 graphics card

If this smaller computer has enough hardware to run Ostfront, I would rather try the Uninstall/Reinstall on the small computer. The large computer has the Nvidia dual-card graphics card from a few years ago. This "two in one" card has plenty of firepower, but, I believe there are some compatibility problems with some games.

Does the small computer have enough hardware to run Ostfront?

Your small computer has a lot more than my computer in memory and your video card is comparable to mine. So it should be fine.

I'm still not sure where the /c is coming from, or what affect it might have on the game. You might recheck what compatibility mode it's running in. I'm running Win 7 64 bit, and my PCO shortcut isn't running under any compatibility setting that I can see.

Install the latest full release, I think it is v2.0.327h - You can find this number in the readme. I just reinstalled this yesterday, and when it installed it behaved slightly different than it had in the past. When it installed .NET this time it game me a window saying I had a later version and that .NET would not be installed. It used to ask if I wanted to repair .NET. However in either case I clicked ok, and let it continue on to install DirectX.

AFTER it installed DirectX, it took a LONG LONG time to finish and give me a Installation successful message. However it finally did.

Make sure you wait for the Installation successful message.

After you install the setup release, go ahead and try playing. If it works, then try installing the patch which is a little difficult to find on the Support Site. It doesn't appear to be listed with the downloads for the game. But you can find it in the patches section. The latest patch is PanzerCommandOstfront-UpdateComp-Build329f.exe.

I'll try reinstallation. Could you verify that these are the best files to install? I will install the full release, test it, and then install the patch.
