Do it. Sapper depends too much on the threat of his thrusts protecting his flanks. He tends to leave his flanks open because he figures you will have to contain the threat of the spear head and that the Soviets will not have the MPs to really cut them off. And if the Soviets do, then he figures it will be an easy task to free them again.

I agree with the "do it"'s. However, 1) he may have better supply access thru Kiev (from the north) than you think , 2) the security units may prove to offer a stiff defense (there's a bunch of them), and, most importantly 3) you're dealing with Sapper. He's one of the most creative German players. Also look what he did in AGS the last 10 turns. Beware !!!

Maybe I don't understand the Axis game play that well but to me this looks like a total disaster for the Germans. T18 is mud and most of his troops will be outside of supply range. Can't you just rail units to Kharkov and beyond and close the pocket?

Turn 17 South Front

The soviet forces enter in the gap, and prepare to advance next turn. However, they remain close to the rail points.

But the bad news, 33 division remained encircled. Huge loss...

The german has 2200 tank. I but fight against them during winter turns, or 42 will be harsh.

Loosing screen.

I lost most of my cavalry divisions. The winter offence will be less effective.

Industry

My factory looses are light. Only the heavy industry looses are real harsh.

Sapper sure plays with big pincers.

So, Axis reached Voronezh in '41 (and more!) but that huge pincer is inviting. Can (will) you cash it in?

Maybe Sapper will prove me wrong about (my) Soviets can't lose theory. Nahh... don't think so.

Sorry guys, but due RL issues, I left the game.

As I remember, before the three light winter turns (T22-24) I evacuated the huge bag, and went back into stable front line 2 or 3 hex far from german lines.
But T21 was my last move..

You are doing excellent in the center and Ukraine but I think leaving Leningrad was a big mistake. Also very strange strategy of GHC in the South, looks very inaccurate. Where he goes, to Stalingrad? Why so many troops near Voronezh?

Turn 21, last mud turn.

My troops fall back 2-3 hex line avoiding the german infantry division attack.
On south all german motorized and panzer divisions are able to attack my front line, so I fall back, before a major disaster will happen.

Next turn the great bulge will be closed. So sad...

Sapper222 WON!

Post by Callistrid »

T22 South

Kiev type disaster. At least two of my front had been encircled, and during the snow turns it's impossible to rescue them. The situation is helpless.

It's impossible to resist against 30+ rested and reinforced german motorized units...

So the time has come, when I must lay down my weapons and say Sapper won this war.

Sapper you are the best :) Nobody can overmatch you!

You can reduce production or construction of these items, in case you have supply shortages.

Soviet Union suffered worse defeats and didn't surrender [:)]
