Just wenting over the IOC - disregard

Post by terje439 »

So if Oslo is chosen as host for the 2022 Olympics, the IOC VIPs DEMAND the following;

1. To meet the king
2. Own private lanes on the roads
3. 24 hour butler service
4. "High quality" food available all the time
5. Free Samsung mobile phone
6. All advertisment rights for ALL of Oslo (means street vendors are not allowed etc).

Gee I am tired of this circus, hope the party Høyre votes no today, but they will not...

It's time the Olympics were given back to the Olympians.

I refused to watch the last one.

I don't care where the next one is held.

I'd be inclined to tell the officials they can stay home and watch it on TV.

One of the few good things to happen in Illinois in the past few years was Chicago not being selected as a host city.

And Høyre voted NO at their national meeting. IOC will have to look elsewhere [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]

Pleased you got the result you wanted terje.

However, just to add a bit of balance to the thread, I have to say that London 2012 was a magical couple of weeks - an absolutely brilliant time was had by just about everyone I spoke to about it. Great occasion, great sport and Great Britain! [:)] What a show London put on!

True all you say here, and the issue is not that I totally refuse to arrange the Olympics in Norway, but not with the demands put forewards by the IOC. To me the Olympics should be about the athletes and the public, not by a few thousand VIPs.

Espesially #1 in my initial post annoyed me. You are GRANTED an audiance with the royalty, it is not something you DEMAND.
The IOC has to think hard about the signals they send out imo. The list of demands they had was 7000 pages long! Grnated most of it had to do with security etc, and was not any biggie, but when they add items like the ones posted above I feel that the IOC thinks that the Olympics is about the VIPs, and that they are all that matters...

I think it is time that the democratic countries make demands on IOC.

I am glad, Terje, that the vote went as you wanted.
