Plodder your map is sooo detailed [&o] ..that it almost need no labels if players had studied a Berlin city map for some longer time

maybe you release two versions:
- one the map with all bells n whistle as planed
- and a second one with just the pure landcape (no text on it at all)

Just the labels to do. Now I get chop it up for the values editor. This is a half-size view, notice the 1km grid, I'll release a version with hexes as well.

And to think, putting that kind of detail in a map just took about 6 weeks.

What that means, at that pace, is you could make about 8 maps per year. That's exactly why we didn't make those kind of maps for the release of the game.

The only reason I went into so much detail with this map is it is mostly urban terrain and it's such an iconic city in regards to the Cold War that it deserves special treatment. It would have been quite easy to slap generic urban terrain on it and be done in a couple of days.

Plodder, I am dealing with a family emergency, but I did pass on to Rob the problems with the map values editor. One thing you can do to help yourself out is to replace the hex fields and trees with ones that have a hole in the middle to let the scanner see what is there. You will also want to set the edge buffer setting down to 1 or 2 as well. That will help with some of 99s.

No probs thanks. I like the hole in the middle idea, thanks! It's not the fields or forests that were the problem though, the problem was the editor not recognizing lakes or roads. I had the edge buffer set to 2 iirc.

MR

maps can be put together artistically quite quickly, once a template is in place,
data entry for the hex values would be tedious, though

Very true. If we could select our own rgb values for the map editor that could possibly make it easier.

Loving the badge and the counters. How did you get the flags on the counters to work? The game currently saves only one background name.

I'm just placing the flag onto the vehicle silhouettes bmps, renaming them and then linking to the renamed pics in the data file. So you'll see little flags in the SUI and Force Roster. I'm using the US data for the national characteristics as it was going to be the US commander in charge of the Allies.

At the moment, I'm trying to work out the TOE for the US inf battalions as they were unusual in being a mix of leg and mech.

Plodder, roads are only recognized as #c1c1c1 in 2.05, not as #c0c0c0. You might have to save the map first before the "Road" tags appear.
For lakes and version 2.05, use color #2e00de, not color #2d00dd.
