RE: Jan 25, 1945 - Sub War

Post by topeverest »

We've entered that part of the war that if a sub attacks it usually is killed, on either side of the board. I plan to burn my subs as previously discussed mostly around Japan, where I can't project airpower.

Its a death sentence to be in a sub at this point

21 ALLIED SUBS lost this month alone. Almost one per day

I am not sure if there are any viable options other than what I am doing at this point

What late war strategies have been more rather than less successful as an allied player?

I really don't see any real options that reduce allied losses unless you park them in port. NOTE this is my first game to get to late war since the empire ASW upgrade several years ago

Horne of Oz now all allied. Empire forming strong force to prevent tennent Creek from going Allied. Brisbane and Sydney appear to be abandoned. Perhaps he has consolidated his troops in the north near Darwin.

DRADT - - - I do hate the NFL overtime rule. Its overtime unless the team scores a touchdown on first try. Never agreed with that rule. Too many teams never get a chance to match.

Here are the combined losses...not quite 3 to one losses in favor of the allies. Again, this is about as good as loss ratios seem to get in any combat remotely competitive

RE: Jan 30, 1945 - Prep bombardment for Diego Garcia

Post by topeverest »

this will be a tough invasion. I am moving up the CV force and a bombardment force. the plan is for next turn bombard and then push 150 B29's to knockout the Diego Garcia. Thereafter, bomb it into submission for about 20 days prior to final invasion. I need to worry in this effort. he has repeatedly had a hundred or more fighters here. I deliberately stopped spotting a few months ago to suggest I will not be interested. It could end fairly badly for me, but I need this base for future plans.

Plain and simple, I have to survive a turn of naval air attacks on my forces before I can bombard, so that my 29's wont get chewed to death. ironic, but it is the british CVL's that are more expendable than the 29's.

Tune back to find out how it went.

DRADT. The bombardment task forces did not move from Addu and the CV's did. I double checked by orders, and I issued them correctly. They were just refused.
