Got some more done. I took a night off map making last night and mucked around with the data files,to see what I could do.What I want to do is very feasible so it looks promising. I've also rejigged a part of the canal to make the terrain more resemble reality.

I live in Wellington these days, originally from Dunedin though. Where were you?

I lived in Wellington. Above the Uni and also in Christchurch. That was in the last century though. Late 60's. Wellington is one of the great port cities - except for the weather sometimes.

Welly has changed a lot since the sixties, especially around the waterfront. The weather certainly hasn't, it's part of the reason I have a lot of time to do these maps.[:D] Chch, as you're probably well aware, has been changed forever.

Making some great progress, have got Templehof Airport up to scratch, including the huge terminal building. Starting to feel the end is in sight...

And with a good piece of timing someone has just posted an AAR of a Berlin'85 refight over at Comsimworld:

Thanks for the link, that thread had some great little nuggets regarding the quality of the allied and BePo forces.

I've reached another milestone by hitting the bottom of the map. It's fairly slow going at the moment due getting the mixed terrain types right but it's worth it as it gives each district their character.

Interesting to see how LOS\LOF plays out within the city. It should all be close combat in their and no shooting across two or more hexes.

I'm really beginning to dislike the American Sector, the mixed urban types in the area are a real pain to get right. [:D]

To give you an idea on how accurate I'm trying to make the map, here's the complete north west corner of the map:

....and done.Well, almost. To use a film-making analogy, principal photography is done. Now it's clean up time. I still have to clear the urban areas for the railway lines in the west of the map as I didn't add them until later. I'm also going to go over Tegel airport again and add more tarmac etc. to get it up to Templehof standards. Then it's seat each layer in it's proper place, add shading and map labels. I'll probably get it ready for the map values editor before adding the labels as I still have to work out fonts, sizes and level of detail. Still got lots to do, but it's great not seeing any blank areas. [:)]
