Chinese Partisan Issue

Post by tacfire »

Please look at the attached screenshot. China and Japan are at war.
The Japanese units in the Chengchow-Kaifeng area are in good supply.

Why are these Japanese units in good supply? Chinese partisans have cut off all their rail links to them
Shouldn't they be OOS (out of supply)? Don't partisans cut rail lines?

I can not see any other way for supply to reach the Japanese HQ, especially in the winter snow.

I am using the latest beta version of the game - version 1.2.1.2.

there is no bug here ..

it is snow, so the HQ can trace free rail road supply and 3 hexes basic supply path.

so the short answer is that the HQ can trace around the partisan..(its a little more complicate then this.)

Railway supply paths
A hex a railway supply path enters, by moving along a railway or road,
does not count against the 4 hex limit. A hex it enters across a straits
hexside also does not count against the limit, so long as the hexes on
either side of the straits are railway hexes.
The 4 non-rail hexes can occur anywhere along the path. Although you
will mostly use them to trace supply from an HQ to the railhead, they
can be handy for re-routing around an enemy unit that’s blocking a vital
rail link.

In this example, Terauchi is on the railroad. He traces by rail towards Suchow, uses two hexes to avoid the blocking partisan in Suchow to the railline to Tsinan and than the supply path goes further towards the minor port and than further to Japan for another hex, making it three in total.

Therefore, the Japanese are correctly in supply.

Ok, I understand what you guys are saying.

I thought the basic supply path was calculated from the HQ to the railroad line only.
I did not realize the supply path could also jump off the railroad line in the middle of the track like that.

The screenshot is a good case study for how supply works in the game :)
