Any chance you could post a save?

I assume the sub was damaged?

In some cases the sim throws out the 'no penetration' message when penetration isn't part of the calcs, and the actual damage is resolved correctly. This one's already on the list, and one of the guys will start looking at it when back later this fall.

Thanks!

The sub was not damaged, that was the weird thing, so when I posted this I thought the RBU-6000 was completely broken. But later in the same training session I got effective hits with the RBU-6000, so I am not sure what this is about. Could just be a misleading log entries, but "impact" would suggest some degree of damage would be in order?[&:] I will see if I can get a save where it is reproduced, just give me some time.

Just to make it clear, contrary to how it might seem, I am not on some sort of bug hunting quest. [8D] I have just been spending the last few weeks running all sorts of one on one training exercises, exploring various platforms, sensors and weapons. What is the sonar detection range of a Los Angeles against a Victor III at various depths and speeds? How many incoming Sandbox missiles can a Leahy deal with, and how many Siren leakers are too many for a Spruance? How should a Knox behave if it detects a sub at 10 miles, or at 4 miles? How close can a Sturgeon safely come to a Grisha, and how bad is it if you get too close? First goal is to explore and try out all USN platforms, sensors and weapons in service in 1984, then we move on to fleet tactics exercises...

Great fun, good learning experience and quite a few eye openers. As a side effect, anything that does not work right becomes very obvious since there is nothing else going on.[:)]

Here is a save, featuring a Barbel class SS as a target for a Grisha's RUB-6000. That is about all the Barbel is good for; was its sonar systems really that awful??

Anyway, you might have to run the scenario several times to get a result, but I was able to reproduce the original issue.

I also got this:
08/11/1984 1:02:22 PM: Weapon: RBU-6000 Salvo [12 rnds] has impacted USS Blueback (SS-581)

08/11/1984 1:02:22 PM: 3% penetration achieved

08/11/1984 1:02:22 PM: No armor penetration!

08/11/1984 1:02:22 PM: Contact GOBLIN #81 has been lost.

That hit resulted in the sub being sunk. So it might just be a misleading trace.
