British Command have no major developments to report Global naval action's to numerous to report. The only fluid land battles are in Norway and Sweden with no success to report. Some concern as to why the Chinese feel the need to contain the British in Hong Kong some unnecessary caution here I feel.

Peking is restored to the "Celestial Kingdom". Even our Communist brothers are using the phrase, and it seems appropriate even though we will never be a kingdom again.

The Japanese pounded us while our armor was on the coast. Their powerful navy was simply pounding away without a care, but now coast watchers report sightings of American subs, and they are stopping along the shore and picking up fresh meals. They say the Japanese will probably pull away from our coast to deal with the threat of the USN. The American people have been true friends. This comradeship will last!

In the far north, on the Soviet border we attacked and pushed the Japanese back there too.

Joint communique of the China-United States Alliance

The United States of America has declared war on the Axis Powers. The USN has struck heavy blows on the Imperial Japanese fleets.

The Chinese welcome the United States as active allies! The sinkings off the Chinese coasts have thrilled the citizens of the littoral who have suffered the Japanese depredations.

A offer of peace was made to the Japanese Empire by the British Japan, is no longer in possession of British Far East Oil resources or cities, and has given assurances that Japan will not reoffend in this area. Some successes and failures against the Italians and Germans who will have the undivided attention of the British Empire.

Joint communique of the China-United States Alliance

The USN attacked the IJN where we found it. We captured Truk and Eniwetok, and bombarded Saipan. We had less luck in the waters around China and Japan where we gave about what we took, but resistance was significant. The Japanese air force is superior to ours and both the USA and China found this a painful lesson.

China mounted an armored assault, but it was not successful, and Chinese recon found significant Japanese armor at the front. Making gains against the Japanese will be hard in the immediate future. It begins to look like we were very fortunate in our timing as we would never make the gains we did against the current Japanese force structure. Japan clearly has found a defensible front in China, and the initiative may switch. If so we will defend fiercely.

Staff notes on intercepted Japanese message :

We have decoded an interesting message from Japan. The message seems to have been sent to parties interested in the progress of the war. The text is as follows :
I made a major mistake not to attack in the beginning. When I thought China might get too strong it was already too late. Now China has a high number of rifle II, but even worse it has masses of conscripts and masses of light tanks that stopped any advance of Japan. Meanwhile some counterattcks of China have been successful. Last turn USA joined the war. Japan is doomed now. It cannt fight a strong China and a very powerful USA.

It is clear the message refers to the last few months, but gives insight to Japanese thoughts about the decision to accept a ceasefire earlier in the war. Was the ceasefire a "major mistake"? When we pitched the ceasefire to the Japanese we thought the deal was good enough to be attractive to them. We certainly had plans which required a time for building. When they accepted we worked hard on improving efficiency, increasing production and preparing for the Shanghai offensive. We expected the Japanese to engage the Soviet Union and forget about China. This development never occurred. Before the Shanghai operation we offered Japan a three month guarantee of ceasefire for ceding of Shanghai, with the specific intention of throwing weight towards an attack on the USSR. Even now we are not sure just what the relationship between Japan and the European Axis is.

The Japanese assessment of China's strength and Japan's prospects seems more in tune with a month ago. Now as indicated in the communique above the situation seems much less sanguine for China. The United States has great potential but is far from "very powerful" now. The USA has to wage a global war and has plenty to think about in her own hemisphere. We hope Japan's militarists are "doomed" but there is a lot of war to fight.

The UK and France are heartened that the United States of America has joined the fight. The Germans dominate continental Europe and threaten the very existence of the USSR. Landings were made on Italian soil the city of Messina was taken, it remains to be seen if it can be held.

Joint communique of the China-United States Alliance
22 July 1940

The USN, Marines and Army troops took the islands of Saipan and Peleieu from the Japanese. We only found one raiding submarine off the coast of the Philippines, and sank it.

The USN and Army Air forces made an airstrike on Taipei, serving notice that this bastion is on the list of targets.

China made limited strikes, and bolstered defenses against much stronger Japanese forces.

The alliance against the Axis is formed up.

French and Arab forces have expanded the beach head in Italy. Naples was shelled by the Royal Navy, preparing the way for the advance into the soft underbelly of the Axis.

Joint communique of the China-United States Alliance

Mexico joined the Western Alliance, and her troops are preparing to battle alongside her allies.

Large naval battles, primarily among submarines near Iwo Jima, which was taken by US Marines.

China attempted an assault on a strong position, but did not have the artillery and airpower to prepare, and took very heavy losses for no gain. It will be a while till China can successfully attack the Japanese.

The British launched a armored attack on Copenhagen, it turned into a bit of a fiasco for the British. Naval Bombardment of the mainland continued with Rome now the target of the Royal Navy, in addition the first large British Heavy Bomber Raid was launched against Rome supported by Carrier Bourne Fighters From Arc Royal Intrepid and redoubtable. Build up of British forces continue in South America as well as a flow of troops into Messina. Air Raids were launched against German ships in the Baltic with some success.

Joint communique of the China-United States Alliance

Naval patrol bombers operating out of Panama located the Chilean Navy doing interdiction in the Pacific. The USN struck and sank a battleship, two old destroyers and one modern one. The parabola of effect leads the eye to the source of the trouble.
