Any news on the 1.08 patch?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Just the .exe for the current work.
Plus information what was wrong with the translation in 1.07 (and not covered by my improved german translation mod).
Plus lots of playtesting of german 1.08 once ready, there were so many changes and I may not find them all.

Seeing how I have the German version here I could send you the .exe . Just pm me a mail address and I will send it to you.
I can't help with the 2nd point though since I nearly never use the German version of the game.

Hi guys... What's up?
It was long time ago, when I ordered my troops to smash the enemies face, punch the germans out from the holy motherland, or beat the ruski horde.

So, I want to play this game again, without the 1=2 rule! :)

Where will be ready the 1.8?

Patience.

Data and scenario changes should be finished for now, morvael is wrapping up the documentation so the WitE manual updates could be started.
We're running AI vd AI test to ensure the production and upgrade/swap functions are working properly (within the engine limitations).
I'm waiting for a german version of the 1.08 executable to complete the german translation so german customers are not presented a wild mix of german and english strings in the first Beta.
As said in multiple earlier post we still hope to get it ready at the end of the month (if no gamebraker appears out of nowhere).

Appreciate the extensive changes; '08 seems more extensive than many previous. Worth time to do it right.

Yes one of the 3 Amigoes.

1.08 is going to need some love aka public beta testing.

We all want balanced games ( all things being equal) where MT (GHC) vs Bomazz (SHC) can be close to a draw.

Tweaks will be needed to get the balance we have ALL been waiting for.

Never forget Denniss. His contribution to the patch is as large as mine. I think half of the .exe changes were done by me only because of his reports and ideas. Plus his are almost all of the data and scenario changes (as Red Lancer did some updates to his own scenarios)...

I was wondering if the patch addressed the importance of cities like Odessa and Svestapool. Before it didn't seem like it was important to take them and i felt like I was missing out on a important part of the war.

I'm pretty certain it doesn't. By the way you can add Tallinn to that list as well.

What exactly is the 1:1 2:1 rule ( hope you know what I mean)
In the Campaign Game during 1941 through Feb. 1942, the Russian combat results table treats 1:1 odds in battles as if they are 2:1. This generates "retreat" results from Russian 1:1 attacks against the Germans during that time.

Some players think this rule favors the Russians too much and as a result it has been made a selectable "option" in the 1.08 patch so it can be used or not based on preferences.

About 1:1::2:1

Agree GR's explanation; should say it begins some time after T10. Wonder how many more such rules are coded. Disappointing that any such rules are needed, given the detail of the game. On the other hand, the scope of '41 campaign is so great its very difficult to not resort to such rules to assure some historical outcomes.

About the value of different cities and certain hexes

Many factors must affect cities' values; the developer gods had their ideas, so there it is. One can disagree and could develop a custom set-up. Interesting discussions might abound!

And don't forget the industrial, manpower, and supplies (foods!) sources that may not be in cities.

While we don't want to rush you and prefer to wait until it's ready...how close is it to the release?

Thank you and all the testers and coders for the hard dedicated effort you put in to the updates... [&o][&o][&o]

WitE Changelog in numbers:
- 121 new features (+22)
- 47 bug fixes (+4)
- 25 scenario changes (+1)
- 5 general device changes
- 48 specific device changes
- 12 general ground element changes (+2)
- 265 specific ground element changes (+2)
- 10 general aircraft changes
- 159 specific aircraft changes (+1)
- 2 general TOE changes
- 34 specific TOE changes (+3)
- 2 general leader changes
- 2 specific leader changes
- 32 pages (+3)

..and couple more new features in the works.

We're really near. We're mainly doing balance changes and clearing some minor problems. Some PvP tests should be performed soon, to give us better understanding of how it plays (but it will still be up to the players to discover new balance).
