2.05 error installing

Post by Tazak »

I have downloaded the zip file, extracted it into a folder and ran the .exe file which gives the error in the screenshot.

Clicking okay several times then launches FPRS but gives another error - "Error - the required license file "serialreg.txt" cannot be found in the root game directory. Please reinstall this game with the matrix installer", clicking okay then closes the game.

It is not an exttractable file. Unzip it and then copy the files into your Flashpoint Campaign folder. The new files will overwrite the old ones.

i'd say if you're having problems with zip, then wait for the 2.05 installer from Matrix early next week, then it will do it for you, but if you have messed up your directory etc, delete it by running the uninstall, then remove the game folder just incase there any files left and reinstall your game, then use the auto update with it, but the latest update won't be ready as yet, but will be here soon, good luck

Can you tell us more details? It looks like you loaded and started fine, but stopped right before jumping to the map. What scenario were you trying to play? Does this happen in all scenarios? Also what OS and language are you using? That should help us track this down.

It sounds like your map files are not in the right folder. Can you check to see if your /modules/firs/maps have the .png and .fp9 files. Another thought, can you find and open any of the png type files in the game? We will go from here if this does not get us an answer.

Mitsuhito - By any chance are there any files in the \Custom directory underneath the \Maps directory? If there are then they will be loaded instead.

Are the png files in the \Maps directory all original files as included in the Matrix distribution?

Just checking to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious. This is an interesting problem.

Thanks for your patience, Rob

OK, I just did a little more digging and it appears the problem is with the third party graphics library that we use. It supports Unicode and therefore Japanese at the higher levels but when it does file input / output it reverts to ASCII and that must be where it is failing.

I think I can use an alternative file input / output routine and copy the image over into where it needs to be once it is loaded. Testing will be the hard part really...

More when I know it. Thanks, Rob
