Population growth - 1 billion in a decade?

Post by akvilonn »

Enjoying the Universe.

What is wrong with population in this game?
I start the game at home planet and my population grows from 2 billion to 3 billion in less then 10 years?
I am not talking about formulas, bonuses and planet quality. I am talking about realism..

Can something be done about this? Earth gained a billion people in about a century, but in this game during few years it seems like every race is breeding like cockroaches or mice.

It looks like population breeding is sped up by about 10X.

Sorry if this was discussed before, though this surrealism kills my immersion.

Since 1999 world population has grown from 6 billion to 7 billion. For the fourth time in the past
half century, 1 billion people were added to the planet in 14 years or less.

and that's with a lot of nations reproducing below replacement rate.

imagine everyone having a bunch of children with modern medicine; you could double population very, very quickly.

Going from 2 billion to 3 billion in 10 years only requires a growth rate of 4.1% per year. That's perfectly believable.

The population increase does not always mean extra births that total that number. GCII demonstrated this perfectly when you would get a report that inform you how much growth your empire had gone through, but you would also be informed that this figure represented the number of taxpayers rather than number of people total, this can come from simple age increases of children and immigrants etc.

Well, if economy, social developments and medicine can handle the births, even a lot faster growth is realistic.

If you assume that half of a human population are female, roughly half of them are capable of giving birth, and delivering a child takes about a year (again - roughly) than a 2 to 3 billion population growth is possible in 2 years.

I suspect males in DW are lazy to impregnate as fast as they can. [:)]
