[NON-ISSUE] 1.04 map issue after update

Post by ultradave »

Been quite busy so I'm just getting to the 1.04 update. Now that I have done so, my map screen is white, no matter what scenario I load.

I can see the message log, and I can see some things like a few unit positions (I assume) against the white background. Also the data block works as normal. It seems the only thing missing is the Earth :-)

Any ideas what might be causing this? I loaded the update twice to see if something was missing, including DirectX and .NET (which it didn't update because it was already up to date).

A couple of extra pieces of data.

* Zooming in and out works (I can see the altitude change and markers on the map get closer or spread. However, zooming in and out does not make the map appear

* I'm on a MacBook Pro using Parallels Desktop with Windows 7. It has worked fine up until the update.

Never mind. I figured out the problem. Apparently the windows update that was installed just before updating to 1.04 set the graphics back to 16 bit. Once I set it to 32 bit everything is fine.

Started up a couple of scenarios to make sure and all is well.

Thanks for the tip! We'll add an extra check on startup.
