CO HTTR crashes every time

Post by desktopwarrior »

Hi Just got the HTTR upgrade after buying BFTB a while back. ver 4.6279.
the BFTB scenarios still load but the HTTR scenarios cause a crash. Please help me!
A little disapointed at the number of scenarios.
Better still if i could play them.

did you download the data pack for HTTR to bring up to date?

The download is in the members area, just unzip into main BFTB directory.

What Budd said.
This is quite a common question at the moment, and I can understand the confusion.
There are numerous other, recent threads on the forum if you need any more information.

Depending on the play style you adopt, there are hundreds of hours of play time in the scenarios in the game.
Especially if you take into account all the player made content.
I don't think the number of scenarios will be a problem, its more likely to be your lack of time to play them in the long run [;)]

Didn't they combine some of the scenarios from the original together? There's 3 monster 9 nine scenario's in the upgraded HTTR, don't remember that many big ones in the original.

Forgive me for being a moron.
The patch/update on the members area seems to be numbered 4.6.278
I installed this over the top of version 4.6.279 but there is still a massive delay loading scenarios and then they crash.
On the start up screen there is a "Check For Updates" link which updates you to version 4.6.279 ie back where i started.

Actually, it's not your fault. Take a look in the members section and download the packs, not the game patch.

You want to be on 4.6.279. But, you also want the updated scenario packs available only in the members section.

Thanks everyone im finally there
Im not a novice and i found this process very hard work.
It cant be good for matrix games and the authors reputation to have the solution to a chronic problem buried so deep. Good job im tenacious.
As to the fewer scenarios Im sure i wont have enough time to play as much as i would like. Thanks again

I think it's amazing matrix are allowing this confusion to continue, whatever their reasons. Whatever their reasons, it's bad for their reputation.

Come on, Erik, can't you fix this?

I'm not sure they update their setup releases often. There are still games i redownload after years and still have to patch.

The means to update to 4.6.279 is cumbersome, but keep in mind that not everyone has purchased the HttR or Greek Scenario Packages.

The mechanism to protect the investment for anyone who has purchased those packages separately is to release updates to them through the registered games members site following the instructions provided.

Anyone who has the original HttR and Greek Pack scenarios can perform the 4.6.279 update manually using MapMaker and recompiling the appropriate scenario maps. We've got to do that anyway for the custom scenarios we may have accumulated.

Take care,

jim

i mean updating the expansions so downloading the data packs isn't needed. Now you have to download the expansion and then download and install the data packs for it to work with the latest BFTB. The expansions should be updated to the latest version of BFTB.

I believe folks are saying a customer shouldn't have to solve a riddle or go on a quest for updated files to get what they paid for.

They're right.
