Canadian Operations

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Canadian Operations

Post by Ezra »

I was wondering if Panther Games has considered any Canadian Operations, possibly in the format of HTTR. Juno beach and the ensuing Canadian battles against the SS Panzer divisions have been neglected in my experience when it comes to wargames. It seems that the Canadians were often pitted against the best. Operation Totalize and Ortona are good examples.

Just some thoughts.

Ezra,

Welcome mate. Are you volunteering to design a scenario featuring Canadian forces? [:)]

I imagine all the tools are there...yes? Not sure if I`m up for the learning curve since I am still learning the game. Anyway, good stuff. I appreciate your dedication and hard work which I am sure I take for granted at times.

Cheers.

The Estabs for some Canadians are in Huib's superb 'The Woensdrcht Isthmus' scenario, which is, of course, a Canadian scenario. Get it from the member's area, Ezra. You would just need to adapt or make a map (I've never done, but it's meant to be addictive fun), adapt those estabs to suit your needs, perhaps (if you picked a late war operation this might be easier - I'm told that doing the estabs is the hardest bit), then do the scenario in scenmaker (very easy).

But get and try Woensdrecht if you fancy the Canadians. It's a superb beginner scenario, I think. Great for beginner right through expert. One of my top favourite scenarios. Go to members area (register first), My Games, then 'Scenarios' in the sidebar. It's still in there. When you have it you will probably need to open its map (it's called West Brabant, iirc) in Mapmaker, wait for it to load, then save over it, by picking 'save as' and selecting the 'West Brabant' map to write over (maybe draw the cache as well whilst you're there) to ensure it converts to .279. Be sure to do this little conversion exercise before trying to play it.
