RE: A musical global war AAR...
When will the luck end for the Axis? It's imbelievable... Those two attacks were meant to soften up the defenses, not to be outright successes...
The problems mount and mount for the Allies. The Chinese are toast if the turn doesn't end, since Kunming will fall next Axis impulse, leaving only one Chinese factory city (with only Stilwell in that city). The CW can't pass this turn (if the turn doesn't end, Gibraltar can be taken by the INF in Tangier, together with the Para and an awful lot of Italian shore bombardment added, and let it be known that Italy will DoW the CW to throw in the Shore bombardment!).
Only thing is: US entry. Currently 6 chits in the Ge/It Pool, 3 in the Jp Pool, and one in both tension pools. That does make things a little better for the Axis, since it is only July-August 1940. This is also the reason why Spain can be crushed so easily, because it is one important unit short to make a good defense in 1940. The way that offensive chit worked in France early 1940 really is paying it's dividends on the time table...

July-August 1940, Allied impulse number 8:
The chance that the turn will end is 20%. If all pass it's 40%. Now, it doesn't matter if China dies this turn or the next one....
So China takes a land action, France passes (has got nothing to do), CW, USSR and the US take combined options.
And here is: "Le Swingalero"... Janette Armand & Wal-Berg & son Orchestre (1939)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0by5XMGNvOQ
The USSR moves the two SUB's into the Japanese Coast (2 box). They want to try to upset the Japanese convoy line with the US. They need to be lucky to get that to happen, but why not? However, neither side fights one another.
The CW uses it naval moves to improve the convoy lines. Soon the Cape St. Vincent and the Bay of Biscay might not be good positions anymore.
Again, Bomber Command send it's bombers to bomb German controlled factories. This time, Brussels takes a bomb load, and there are no German FTR's available to intercept...

All bombs are on target. The industrial area around the city has been destroyed...
“It's a Hap-Hap-Happy Day”, isn't it? It's played by the Jay Wilbur Orchestra

The USSR moves units in Manchuria. An ARM is moved into Persia and the Soviet Airforce rebases towards that region to.

This is July/August 1940?
I think maybe Commander Kruge has something to say to the USSR vis-à-vis Manchuria.

Perhaps. I've never seen the Axis having that kind of luck. The USSR has a very healthy production level and will put out a lot of units over the winter. Germany isn't in position to attack the USSR before 1941.
I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that it wasn't good to DoW Japan hoping to save China that way. China was to far gone already. Bad weather will soon appear in Manchuria, stagnating the front. I agree that it seems wise for the USSR to go into a defensive position over winter there...
And there's slowly a luxury problem arising for the Axis. How to defend the conquered countries against partisans... They are short of garrison units. This also means it is difficult for the Germans to crack the USSR pact...

July-August 1940, Axis impulse number 9:
All Axis powers again take land actions.
In China, bad weather reappeared in the Northern Monsoon zone, meaning that an attack on Stillwell won't be made this impulse.
Now, this sounds like a war time Japanese song: 青年日本の歌(昭和維新の歌)B
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J22KEJdNZJ4
The Japanese decide to ground strike the Chinese CAV, since allowing it to move next impulse give the Chinese a second unit in Kweiyang. If it can be postponed and weather improves, that would be very good for the Japanese (if another Axis impulse comes along).

Not surprisingly, the ground strike fails. Japan rails an INF into Manchuria and a INF DIV into the port of Shanghai. The city of Kunming is taken and the Japanese Marines behave very badly. Reports of multiple rapes, executions and the sacking of the Chinese city make headlines in the newspapers. One US entry chit gained. No attacks made this turn:

In Spain, Germany rails Von Leeb into southern Spain, thus restoring supply to the southern units it has there. An Italian ART is railed to Cartagena.
It's time for another German Marching Song. Here is “Heia Safari, the song of the Afrika Korps, which is promently in Morocco at the moment...

In Morocco, The German ARM moves towards the British pocket in Casablanca. The last surviving Spanish unit (the CAV) is annihilated in a +21 attack (automatic victory). During air rebase, the Finnish FTR arrives in Germany and a German FTR is flown into France, to reinforce the FTR there. Here is Spain:

July-August 1940, Allied Impulse number 10:
The CW decides to make things as difficult as possible for the Germans, regarding the taking of The Rock. They choose a Combined action (as does the US). France chooses a naval action, China and the USSR take land actions.
Here is “At the Balalaika” by Joe Loss and his Orchestra:

Alexander is sailed into Gibraltar, deliberately overstacking the hex. The TERR currently in Gibraltar will be destroyed due to this, it's a nuisance in the port, because it can't be moved into Spain. A South African MIL arrives in Cadiz, together with an South African INF. In Morocco the division captures the port of Mogador:

The USSR concludes it's time to take defensive measures in Manchuria. Next turn a lot of units will arive by train in the country, making it very difficult for the Japanese to recover the lost hexes.
Here is the Georgian March, played by the Band of the Soviet People's Commissariat of Defense:

If the Axis continue on a “close the Med” strategy, troops are slowly in the position to attack Iraq, before it can be aligned to the Axis cause. Vladivostock is of course a death trap for the USSR, so no valuable units will be send there to defend tbe port:

July-August 1940, Axis impulse number 11:
There is now a 50% chance that the turn will end. All Axis major powers take again land actions.
Now, during this long turn (and it is quite a long one) slowly both side are becoming exhausted. Alle German HQ's are spend, the Luftwaffe and the RAF are spent, the Japanese have half of their army disorganised. This is not unusual. The oil consumation by especially the Germans will be very high, this turn. But nothing comes cheap...
But first, here's Kurt Engel: “Wenn es Heut nicht geht”:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClKUZlaxcxc
In China, the effect of all the disorganised units also means that the chance of partisans appearing is now 30% That's not good at all. Japan is especially worried that supply might be broken towards the forces which are aiming to end the last Chinese resistance if one (or even two) partians appears. Therefore, it is decided to move some units to prevent the risk of this happening and to make sure that if one partisan appears and blocks supply, it can be dealth with as soon as possible. There are a lot of places where a Chinese partisan can make life difficult for the Japanese.
The brave Chinese CAV, blocking the way towards the last factory hex still in Chinese hands gets attacked. This is not without risk, since if the Japanese lose units, that will mean the survival of China, because of the supply situation. Stilwell could have given HQ support, but if he does, he will remain disorganised forever, because there isn't a supply path towards the Chinese oil anymore... He decides to decline. However, he decides to choose the Blitzkrieg table
