Update on most reported and irritating bugs

Post by Lord Zimoa »

Hi guys,

Here a quick update on most reported and annoying bugs and what the progress is with fixes and solutions.

- Cannot start or load the game problems:

Cause:

It is strange especially on Steam as the main report we get is a missing .dll, that indicates that Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 was not installed.

But Steam installer installs this automatically when installing the game in Steam.

So it are; or outdated drivers, that you can update and solve of course, or more worrying is that, as not all have it, it means that probably people who already have MS VC 2012 installed for other games don`t run into problems and are ok.

But those who don`t have it than it, indicates Steam is not installing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 correct or the wrong version.

We are checking what is going on.

Anyway this bug is definitely not a game/engine bug, as I said or outdated driver or corrupted Steam installer.

Fix:

We have solved most just by going here and following the 3 steps by hand:

http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=38738

- Update your Graphic driver
- Reinstall/Repair OpenAL
- Reinstall/Repair Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012

Anyway we can fix it and probably as a safety add a launcher bypass to be less exposed to Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 problems like this.

- Game crashes during an AI turn:

Cause:

Various things, but nothing we cannot handle fast, so sorry for any inconvenience but we will provide fixes.

Fix:

We are looking at all the logs and most issues we can fix, but we need to build them into a patch.

- AI hanging resulting in long loading times or continuous loop:

This one was a bastard as we thought it was solved and an old known bug, we had a bypass preventing it, it apparently still happens in some rare cases.

Cause:

It is caused by hanging AI script where the AI calculates its placements/movements, places/moves, than again calculates, places, etc... so it loops.

Apparently our fix works, but not in 100% of the cases, we are looking into it, but this one will take a bit longer to fix.

Fix:

Will need to be provided in a patch

- Other things are minor, less pressing stuff, but we add what we can into a patch as fast as we can.

We hope to have a new patch ready in a few days, so we can test it quickly within Steam Beta. If all is ok release officially for Steam asap.
Simultaneous provide a patch for the version on our own shops and immediately file for a patch approval with Apple for you iPad users.

I keep you guys in the loop. Again sorry for any inconvenience and we work as fast and hard as possible to fix your problems.

Kind regards,

The Lordz
