Bridging engineers anomaly?

Post by nabuok »

Here's the background.

Running clean install of 2.01
Playing non-standard scenario: West Front - AACHEN-WEST WALL 1944 Version 2

Not all Allied Bridging Units seem to be able to build bridges.
If I select a fully supplied unit to build a bridge I get a warning
message " No valid engineer units have been selected for
bridging".

I estimate about 30-50 percent of the many bridging engineer
units in this large scenario have this problem.

Are you next to a valid hex, ie not a full hex water hex? Also, I assume by fully supplied, they haven't moved either? If you hit F2, does it say they can build a bridge in the upper right in the info box?

Hi Warhorse (Mike),

Next to valid hex = yes
Fully supplied = yes
Moved? no
Hit F2 = "LayVehBridge"

I've done a screen shot from my current game which gives details and shows the error message at the bottom.

Fingers crossed I've uploaded the image correctly.

In the screen shot the failed bridging engineers are highlighted in the center but just above them is another bridging engineer platoon that successfully built a bridge. Interestingly the successful unit is platoon D and the unsuccessful is platoon "C" from the same boat company.

A low on ammo bridging engineer will not be able to construct a bridge.

Ah, I knew I must have been missing something. Thanks, Jason (and best of luck in your game of this scenario)

Unfortunately, the person I was playing this scenario with bailed just as it was getting good.
