Base game w/ expansions: Best Scenarios to Learn With

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Base game w/ expansions: Best Scenarios to Learn With

Post by Rison »

Hi all

Just got the base game with the two expansions.

What are the best scenarios to learn the game with? Smaller ones would be nice.

Thanks

The "Road to...."-scenarios are quite good starters imo.

The Velikie Luki tutorial mission.  I think I played that about 10 times.  [:o]

Velikie Luki to learn the controls, Road to Leningrad to learn basic strategy.

A short guide I wrote to Velikie Luki:

Try GC41 (Axis) to see many aspects of full game in useful contexts; don't think short scenarios cover everything. Leader assignments, force configurations, unit structures, supply issues...

Best training ground for Soviets?

rrbill- the Soviet training grounds are pretty much the same as the Axis ones.

Before playing the GC as either side play the Battle of Smolensk scenario. It is much closer to the game balance in the current version than several other scenarios. It will teach you how to fight a Soviet opponent that is only quality inferior to the Axis or teach you what the Soviets can do in 41 against the Axis.
