Saving Donghae-New Scenario for Beta Testing V1.01

Post by AdmiralSteve »

An update to the previous scenario.
1)Changed events to allow for each merchant vessel to have own events and points for arriving at port.
2)Reduced the EMCON levels on most of the DPRK units and made the MiG-25RB the AEW platform. Some surface and sub-surface units will still have active EMCON. This was due to the fact that the DPRK is at a severe disadvantage with AEW platforms.
3)Removed the mission for a group of midget subs as they were not reacting as desired. Group is now on a random patrol and closer to enemy port.
4)Changed "Triumph" score to 185 as previous play-throughs of the scenario resulted in no Japanese losses and a score well over the previous Triumph score of 115.

Thank you to "Rudd" for playing and for your input on making the scenario more playable.

Most things working, but if anything I found everything happened a little too fast, and not easy to explain sorry.
In terms of minor things, did wonder about naming the tankers, and having weather.
The one that didn't quite work were the postures.
In essence you have some nice special messages, and hostilities may or may not take place. However at game start the posture is set to hostile. That meant I rapidly had hostile contacts inbound, while a major war had been taking place between my allies and NK within a relatively few seconds.

I think its only a postures issue, but hostilities trigger really fast and as a result Japan isn't in a position to have escorts or strikes available.
The port came under attack and I didn't have anything even vaguely near when it did so couldn't respond.
that one I think needs to take place later, or delayed somehow as there really doesn't seem to be an available response.

Other than the speed and postures which was a combined issue, I thought all looking good.

Thank you for playing the scenario. I've attempted to use the "Change Posture" condition without much success so I've tried to allow the player to decide when to send the first salvo by adding the messages of when the Red Side fires a weapon.
The player must use nearly all of the Japanese units and must get A/C over the base immediately rather than rely on the South for AAW support. Tankers also are a must unless you want to constantly be returning the A/C to their home base to refuel. The South, unknown to me until I began playing the scenario, will use the Japanese tankers as well.
Thank you again. As a designer, it can be tough to critique ones own scenario as I'll know ahead of time the location of all the Red Side assets, the orders that they have and all of the events so i appreciate your time.
