Can't the A2A form be dragged off to the side and if needed, the Detailed Map rolled up in order to confirm this?

Edit: Hmmm, I suppose not, if that dialog has focus. Something very common with forms and would be ideal for this case would be to have the OK button also operate if the Enter key is pressed.

Hi Steve,

With regards to this issue of ‘freezing’ during A2A combat, I have not yet played Netplay; however, I have played Solitaire and Hotseat: Darkness before the dawn currently 1.06.
Several times I have had the main air combat screen freeze after the die rolls have occurred. I do not think this is a bug with the code, but a problem with the program used to code MWIF.

I believe what is happening is that the ‘information window’ (shown below) that should appear in front of the main air combat screen (after the die rolls informing me of the results and which fighter/bomber to destroyed/abort), actually appears behind the main air combat screen.

Sometimes I have managed to make it appear by pressing the icons on the taskbar or using Alt-Tab; however, this doesn’t always work.

I have also gone back and loaded a previous save and carried out the same combat and have had no problem. It is very intermittent.

Hope this helps and keep up the great work.

Thanks,
Brett

Thanks. I'll make sure that the dialog box has 'focus'. That should keep it "on top".

sent you 2 saved games to try...

During the second turn of the Barbarossa scenario under netplay. The russians sent a transport plane to reorg a mech unit with a fighter escorting. The Germans tried to intercept (within half range), game froze (crashed). We reloaded 2 times and it happened every time. On the third try I didn't intercept with the German fighter so we could continue the game.
The next time it happens I will try and send saved game file....actually I may still have it.
To reproduce this I will need two saved games - that match Next Entry #s - one from each player.

I'm not having 'game freeze' issues. Instead, air-to-air interception doesn't work at all.

All fighters I put up to intercept or counter intercept are completely ignored by the computer. This happens to me in
solitaire and netplay. It happens in ground strike, and strategic bombing phases.

What do you think?

Thanks.

Any news to the solution to this intermittent bug. I am getting this same freeze. It seems to come when the die roll is around 9 to 11

It has now made it onto my to-do list. Your other thread on this gave a lot of details which should let me reproduce it. Prior to that I had it down as a "can not reproduce" bug.

For ease of reproduction I am posting a file that always fails (at least for me and the person I am playing with). It is Global War Scenario. I have turned out historic videos and all sounds. The German Interceptor flies to combat. There are two combats. Fight either one first. The program does not give you a "Ready" button when second combat start.s

Here is the autosave for the beginning of the ground strike phase. Flying any one ground strike works. Fly the 2 in previous post fails. I have not fooled around with other strikes.

I seem to be having these freeze ups more frequently lately. I am on 1.9.2 OPEN BETA.

Any news on resolution?

I have suffered from the type of issues described in this thread for a long time.
The problem is that a smaller window with the results of the latest die roll pops up behind the air-to-air combat window. Since the game requires that you press the OK button on this invisible window to do anything, everything is frozen.
This problem occurred very frequently and made gameplay impossible...
Until I got the advice to move the MAIN window, the one with the main menu: just DON'T place it in the top left corner. If your main window is anywhere else - like on top of your screen, but slightly off to the right from the top left corner - this problem with the air-to-air combat windows stops occurring.
How the two are related is a mystery, but this has worked wonders for me.

SOLVED

Post by dhucul2011 »

Fixed!!

My hang ups where always apparently due to a buried window on the desktop.

As mentioned previously just hit F10 and then the window will pop to the top allowing air to air to continue!

mldtchdog,
Yes I've seen tis problem before also. I'll see the small screen flash, sometimes saying it's not responding and then it disappears behind the main air combat screen. I tend to see this mostly when air combat gets bloody. I sure hope air combat interception can be made bulletproof as it's such a gas to play through when the program actually finishes one without crashing.

I've instituted a 4 round maximum for air interception combats. Especially when I have multiple air combats scheduled. I have gone into the 11th rou9nd of air combat before getting a crash and sometimes it crashes on the very first round.

dhucul,
I'd never thought of the F10 key but I'll give that a try the next time I have an air combat crash. If the fix is this easy I hope that it can be fixed permanently by the programmer.

I encountered a air to air combat bug that was hot seat only. The one I encountered was fixed by Steve a while ago. I am not sure but that fix might be included in the open beta.

With that said I can, of course, not be sure that you got the same bug as I had.
