Running out of Special Arty Ammo

When an FA unit runs out of non-HE ammo, the player is notified following the fire mission that consumed the last of that ammo type and the firing unit goes into On Call status.

If there is another mission of that type already ordered, the firing unit attempts to execute it, even though it is in On Call status (i.e. the order stands, even though it is known there is no ammo for the mission and the unit is no longer in Barrage state). When it executes the order, it result in a second out of ammo message in the TOC log. There is no On Call order in the TOC log.

This behavior occurs for smoke ICM, and FASCAM

Seems to me that:

1. Once a firing unit runs out of that ammo, it should immediately cancel the remaining missions of that type.

2. A commander should know how much ammo of each type is on hand. Units track that at all levels and things like FASCAM, ICM, RAP, and ATACMS (Copperhead) get special and don't require the services of the chaplain for each fire mission.

Jeff,
We are going to do a fairly massive overhaul of the arty system for 2.1. The plan is to add ammo levels for all ammo types or number of fire missions. This will fix what you are seeing here.we are also planning to revamp the way the FSCC works and how fire missions and target priorities are ordered.

Cool. I don't know what your plans are for each bit of code and what things you're already aware of. I just want to make sure you have the most info available.
