New Ship Class- Planetary Bomber

Can we possibly add another ship class that specializes in planetary bombardment?

Right now, capturing a planet takes too much time with troops. It will take forever to wipe out a 20+ colony empire with just troops. Planetary bombardment is a great idea that is already implemented but I would like to have a specialized ship class for those kind of weapons.

any ship can do this, bombing a planet damages its quality.

make a design with lots of nukes 15 plus to combat population growth of a home world. once the planet population is gone the planet will not be able to be invaded you will have to use a colonizing ship.

I can accept the quality reduction for nukes. If we have some tnt type bombs, then no quality losses should incur. We just need more bombs to get the pop down. It should be expressed as a percent ala Stars!. Then you could invade at whatever point you thought made sense.

Personally I am fine with nukes, as I just want that planet smashed and do not want it at all at that stage of the game. Wishing I had a Stellar Converter to flat destroy it as in Moo2.

But with only one ship design per class. It is hard and uneconomical to have every military ship with bombs. I can't make a special cruiser with just bombs and another cruiser with just beams.

just design the bomb cruiser, copy as new, turn it into a beam cruiser and then go back and un-obsolete the bomb cruiser, you can then build/upgrade both as normal.

Again; technically any ship that has an energy source capable of powering an engine that moves it at FTL speeds can project enough energy in a weapon system capable of destroying an entire planet.
