barges

Post by MuguNiner »

Hi,

I have a bunch of landing craft with troops loaded refusing to unload at the destination, refusing to return to Lae, refusing to change TF type. I have changed the TF to Transport and Landing Craft, but as the picture shows it continues to be Barge. I have created new TF and transferred the LC into it. I have asked the TF to return to Lae, but it continues to stay put. Other TF have dropped troops and returned to Lae.

Version 1.7.11.23x6a May 4 2014 08:59:36

Any ideas?

Thanks

click unload cargo/troops button? Don't know - from your screen shot it should do it on its own during turn resolution.

Ok, I clicked on the unload button. Next day, no change. It says it is unloading, but the Total Load remains the same: 2018 of 2550. I have changed the task force to escort and ordered a return to Lae.

What is the difference between barge and landing craft? Is it the same difference as transport vs amphibious?
Thanks

Difference between barge and LC type TF is mainly the allowed ship types. Both are amphib type TFs.
The TF type reverts to the lowest common denominator - which in you case is barge (in the same way a CV TF would revert to Surface Combat TF the turn after you remove the carriers).

It might be that the TF is unable to reach Lae due to the IJ presence in the area. It still might be you are victim of a small glitch, but I would try the following:

- Make sure 'do not unload' is checked (to avoid that for any reason the TF attempts to unload at the non base hex.
- Set the threat tolerance to 'absolute' and the TF routing to 'direct'
- Run the turn, in case the TF is @ Lae next turn, unload there

In your last pic the destination and the home port are the same. I don't know if that might be an issue but try adjusting the destination to where ever you are going. You might want to put this in the tech forum if it doesn't work. michaelm will want a save, probably. GP

The 'do not unload' worked. Thanks! [&o]

Where did you get the cool color pics for the "TF-type" window? They look awesome.

Halsey has done a super job of creating task force art and unit patches! [&o] They are great. And it helps to find split units. I am a very visual guy. In fact I was going to ask a question related to this tonight.

What is wrong with this picture? Can this be altered?

They're flying aircraft borrowed from the USN pool, so the image shows US markings.
