Altitude

Post by Phobosdeimos71 »

Hi

Just wanted to know if opposing aircraft will start using different altitude bands anytime soon. It seems that they all fly at 40,000 ft. Also as I was playing Iron Hand last night I noticed that my aircraft (Mig-29's) when instructed to land would start to climb to 40,000 feet first and then land. Which raises another question for me. The higher my aircraft is, isn't it easier for radar to pick me up from a farther distance?

They're using profiles for strike mission but not yet for patrols.

You are correct. The higher your aircraft are the easier they generally are to detect barring jamming, cross section etc. etc. etc.
