Gateway to Caen - FIRST IMPRESSIONS by TIK

Close Combat: Gateway to Caen is the latest release in the critically-acclaimed Close Combat series and focuses on the largest, concentrated British offensive since the Normandy landings in an attempt to penetrate the German lines west of Caen and cross the Odon River to get the stalled advance moving again.

First Impressions Video

In the link above is my video where I tell you my first impressions of the game. In my opinion, you've done a great job [:)]

This game makes Panthers in the Fog look unfinished. The attention to detail is fantastic and you can tell they've put a lot of work into this.

Some of the Points mentioned in the video:
1. Missions say which side to pick
2. Great looking strategic map
3. Map layouts
4. New features, including the rolling artillery
5. New units are useful

Forgot to mention that you've put the hill layers into the minimap too - this is a fantastic idea! Sometimes it's hard to see where hills begin or don't. Not any more!

The fact it's coming out on Steam tomorrow is the icing on the cake. Going to start a LP asap.

Great job!

Great First Impression mate,

Having started the campaign tonight, it's a nice breeze of fresh air.
I like PitF too, however in some regards it just doesn't hit the nail on its head while so far GTC has.

Yes. If you machine can run Panthers in the Fog, you can run Gateway to Caen.

Thanks! I agree with the freshness (someone on CCS said this too). It doesn't feel as rushed as PitF did, although I'm sure there was a lot of rushing around behind the scenes [:D]
