game keeps crashing

For some reason the game keeps crashing a few minutes after starting a new game. It never did this before I installed distant worlds universe, or maybe something to do with steam? never played it on steam till now.

Hi Skyllio

Thanks for that report.

Sounds like this is a consistently reproduceable crash? What settings are you using to start your new game?

Anyway, that error report gives us plenty of information to add a fix for this in the first update for DW Universe.

The game works everytime if i don't use the ancient galaxy map. But will crash everytime after a few minutes if I use the settings below.

i used a custom game with standard empire with the following setting
Ancient galaxy map
Elliptical Galaxy
1400 stars
15x15 sectors
Prewarp expansion
normal aggression
normal difficulty
expensive research costs
normal space creatures
normal pirates
normal pirate strength

Normal Colony prevalence
plentiful alien life
100% colony influence range
2.00 sector colonization range

Human Empire

random galaxy starting location
normal home system
starting size
prewarp tech level
normal corruption
way of the ancients government

19 auto generated empires
allow indepented alien colonies to start new empires during game

no victory conditions
all story events enabled
allow tech trading
allow giant kaltors at game start

so far everytime i start with those settings it crashes after a few minutes. and it usually happens around the date 9860.06.03 or 9860.06.02

and i found another bug when starting a game with the ancient galaxy map, whenever i investigate a base or ship i get an unhandled exception with the following info

Similar thing.
Started first game as Ancient Galaxy. Exited
Started another as pre-warp (using AG theme as didn't change it)
Crashed before it could do first auto-save (<10min)

Reverting back to the Default Theme and starting a new game under same settings, the game managed to build the first ship without crashing.
Maybe the AG theme is having some unwarranted affect on games started normally and not within the AG setting.
