Air mining is nice but effectiveness of those mines is limited because enemy already know that they are there. You can have occasional success with them but comparing to unrevealed minefields placed by subs or surface ships effectiveness of those mines is poor.

First time I've seen it used against me. May be was in other's AAR, but I missed it somehow. Regardless, minesweepers being sent to all ports.

Michael fixed that a while back and people have posted intercepts of air mining missions from combat reports.

From
http://pwencycl.kgbudge.com/M/i/Mines.htm

The Aircraft Type 3 Mark 1 Model 1 Parachute Mine was an air-deliverable contact mine weighing 640 kg (1411 lbs) with a charge of 80 kg (176 lbs) of Type 97 explosive. This first became available in 1943 and could be delivered by torpedo bombers.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
