Map editor alpha (video)

Post by laska2k8 »

just working on a simple html 5 map editor project with drag and drop elements.

video tutorial

download an offline version for a better performance at download link
unzip and launch index.html

added
- new trees, facilities and roads
- double click delete a sprite
- single click rotate a sprite
- save, open a new window for save the whole map (right click save image), work only in firefox.

Because of some browser limitations I thinking to port it to a new standalone java app.

What a great idea! Very good start, keep up the good work.

I noticed that selecting 'tree 2' would work once, but after that to get another I had to first select 'tree 1' then go back to 'tree 2'.
Not important, but perhaps instead of the button text "show board" and "hide board" make it "show grid" and "hide grid".

Excellent project, when finished this will make such a valuable contribution to the community, anyone will be able to make nice looking maps. Applause!

I am looking into purchasing this game but want to know how easy is it to make new maps? I see Hexdraw being mentioned but are there other ways to produce decent quality maps without going for crazy professional looking maps. It looks like the game is mod friendly which is a real plus for me.

Is not easy, you must use a graphics program.I'm working on some ASL map "reduced" and is a big work.Reduced mean that ,due to the different size between the ASL and Hos map,the terrain is similar but not the same for each ex.

So you are talking about Photoshop, Gimp, Paint.net and the like?

Just wondering how the map editor at the start of this post is comming along. It would go along way to making the game more accessable to casual scenario designers.
