Combat report "16 x Hurricane IIb Trop patroling at 20000 feet *

Post by KenchiSulla »

Something strange I saw while watching the replay. Note that I did not set LRCAP over this base or a Hurricane IIb CAP over nearby bases,

Anybody know what happened here?

Was a Hurricane unit on CAP within 1-3 hexes from that base?

edit: sorry you already answered this I see.

Are Hurricane units in vincinity? Were there additional ground strikes against that target?

No, nothing on CAP, all were on sweep or resting. I did see one aborted Hurricane IIb but then I would expect it to return to base..

"AIR STRIKES
16 x Hurricane IIb Trop unable to proceed to target due to weather"

Does 'resting' in this context mean 100% rest, or 0% with training mission setting, or 0% CAP with escort mission setting?

Those not able to proceed to target were on a ground attack or escort mission?
Did you perform ground attacks on Akya?

Currently my conclusion would simply be an escort over target at the same time as the sweep while the ground component of the strike turned back or arrived with another package.

No, nothing on escort or CAP. All IIb groups on sweep, 0% CAP or 0% training (rest)... Looks like the squadron that was unable to proceed to target due to weather is reported as "patroling" but not actually engaging...
