Variation in BDA between Reported and Actual

Post by AndrewJ »

Hello,

This is more of a question than a concern. (Build 507, Closing the Kurile Gap)

I've noticed that in many cases the attacker's perception of the damage done to a target is greater than the damage the target has actually taken, even when the attacker is well within visual range of the target.

For example, here's the damage suffered by some airport fuel tanks, as seen by the attacker's side and the God's eye.

As you can see, the attacker perceives the damage to be worse than it really is.

Is this a deliberate game design decision (in which case it's a very nice bit of fog of war - pilots are notorious over-reporters of damage!), or should the attacker have a more accurate picture of the situation when the ranges are this short?

Thanks.

This is by design, BDA is very rough [8D]

Does this effect only go in one direction? i.e., is the attacker's BDA always more optimistic than reality?

Yes, and it also depends on proficiency levels.
