max upgrades dependent on faction?

max upgrades dependent on faction?

Post by NZgunner »

I'm towards the end of an epic campaign playing the red faction, and while I have a maxed out auriga no matter where I travel I can't get horses with more than 3 upgrades, and even more frustrating, chariots with more than 2.

Is this because the red team specialises in aurigas and they will never have access to the best horses and chariots?

It isn't so bad as I am still competitive and only 4 wins off top place with my main auriga, but it would be good to know if there are limits on upgrades - mainly to cut out any meaningless travel away from the Circus Maximus.

NB, if upgrades are dependent on faction, then is it harder to play as a faction that specialises in aurigas as aurigas are able to improve their skills randomly anyway, whereas you are stuck with the horses and chariots you can buy?

You are correct, teams with no initial upgrades at some components can not found any fully upgraded. That effectively means that factions with spread upgrades at the start will be able to get fully upgraded pieces while you won't be able to, but you will be able to get access to the best upgrades pieces earlier for the rest of your equipment.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Is it possible for Aurata (the yellow team) to get a fully upgraded auriga through random skill increases even though they have no base auriga upgrades?

Yes it is, but the last full upgrade is hard to get: 1:50 chance after running a race, 1:25 if you are in a knowledge center (Mediolanum/Alexandria)

I'm currently racing in the level V stadium in Rome (forgot the name xD) and sometimes, there are horses coming up in the market that cost 16k, but most of the time I only get to buy 4k or at best, 8k horses. I'm playing with the purple faction right now. So this is all chance-based?

Well no, the number of upgrades depends on circus category. But the distribution of this upgrades between every team component varies randomly yes, taking your initial faction upgrades as basis

I have run nearly 300 races as blue (same campaign) and I have never seen a fully upgraded chariot. so having just one chariot upgrade may not be enough. I spent a long time both in the chariot upgrade towns and the lvl 5/6 roman arenas, but I may just have very bad luck.

This technically means the factions with multiple chariot upgrades can ultimately be stronger, but it would be a VERY long road. Not so bad, if you pick the right tracks though.

Perfect horses are very common for me, does anyone with no horse upgrades find them literally impossible to get even in spain and rome?
