Audiere.dll missing

Post by nabuok »

Hi,

I installed version 2 to the E:\ drive (to avoid confusion with earlier versions on C:). The install seemed to work but no launch icon was installed on the desktop. I tried running the exe files directly but they all fail to run because audiere.dll is missing.

Thinking it was a problem with the E:\ drive I de-installed and then re-installed into a fresh directory on C:\ Same problem, no launch icon and no working exe files!

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and tried to use regsvr32 with a copy of audiere.dll from the developers website. Unfortunately it won't register because it's incompatible.

Any suggestions?

Try to copy-and-paste an audiere.dll from any of your earlier working installs into the new installs (needs to go in all of the top-level East Front, West Front & Rising Sun installs). That should do the trick.

OTOH, did you

[*]install 1.00 from original media, then
[*]apply the 2.00 patch to that newly made install

???

That is the proper way to do it.

If you didn't do the install in the above fashion, that would explain it all, I think.

Hi berto,

Your second question. I just ran the version 2 exe file without installing the original version 1 game. Did I do wrong? Should I go back and install from my version 1 CD and then apply the upgrade. Should I RTFM?

Yes, unfortunately, you did wrong! You should install 1.00 from original media first, then apply the 2.00 patch to that 1.00 install.

Hi berto,

Cough, cough.

Installed version 1 and then upgraded to 2. All working now.

Nice work.
