New Random Game 3v3: StoneAgeLives! [CLOSED]

Post by all5n »

The Game:
This game will harken back to the old "Stone Age" series. Tech will be limited at the start.

We will use the latest version of the game.

Because of this, i want to have an extended period of peace at the beginning. There will be a full 12 turns of peace before war may be declared. Each team should coordinate tech upgrades. With this many turns and such a large map, we should be able to get further into the tech tree than in any game i have previously played in. It should be interesting.

The Players:
Please post in this thread your intent to participate. Also PM me with your e-mail address.

Looking for RELIABLE players for this game. This game is for reliable players ONLY. If you quit because you lose a battle or things are not going well, this game is NOT for you. If you are really slow about turnaround, this game is NOT for you.

I have played with enough of those a-holes and i want to avoid it. For all our sakes. There is nothing worse than a person ruining the game because they are doing poorly and just decide to forget about it. Don't be that person.

At a bare minimum you should turn your country over to your allies if you need to quit, or find a replacement player.

The teams (3v3) may organize themselves however they see fit, but typically a commander on each team leads to more victories. We will try to organize the teams such that skill is equally balanced. We wont put a team of newbies against a team of veterans. The teams will not be mutable (i.e. change) for the duration of the game (i.e. no backstabbing).

The Map:
Randomly generated map. Both teams must agree that the map is fair before play will begin. I will tweak the map where necessary to link up any cutoff areas and make sure there are no unfair advantages to be had by either side.

This game WILL include naval operations. We have been playing too many games lately without it and i miss it somewhat.

Details:

World Size: "Unplayably Large"
Players: 6
World Type: Oceans
Options: MAP LOOP, USE RESOURCES, LIMITED ROADS
Climate: FULL RANGE
Extra Settings: StoneAge, Lancer's Officers Mod (no resource mod)
Scenario Settings: Fog of War, Shroud Peek

The world will be generated such that no team is at a disadvantage due to terrain features or map characteristics. Either team may reject the map if they don't like it.

Player Requirements:
Turnaround within 2 days under normal circumstances is preferred. We all have times when we cant, thats understood.
You must register for and use Dropbox to transfer turns. This way everyone knows at all times whose turn it is. I will create the dropbox folder.

Special Rules:

No declarations of war prior to turn 12.
Teams must ally on the 1st turn.

Slot: (tentative, NOT finalized)

Im nearly full with games right now but I think I can keep with turns in 2 days, but still I want to be reliable also if I join a game so dont add me yet, I could be a backup player if some one quits, or if you are missing a player for the game to start I could do that too.
It's hateM not hate, I dont hate any one.

Right now we are 4 players away from starting.

The goal is a faster turnaround. 2 days is ideal but if you can commit to 3 days then i think that might also work.

Quitting or going AWOL without telling anyone or arranging for someone to cover for you is the main thing we are trying to avoid.

Map options you might consider in addition to Stone Age:
1) Costly Research (or standard)
2) Limited Initial Roads
3) Hidden Stats

Using Cheaper Research with three players per side you might possibly research the entire tree in 12 turns.

Re Officers Mod: Is this just ATG w/Officers or do you mean Lancer's Enhanced Mod Suite?

Yes Lancer's mod. Removed the cheaper research option.

Why limited initial roads?

Is it your belief that the stats give away too much info?

I also considered using kombrig's pt2 file, which sounds interesting.

Limited Initial Roads kinda fits the Stone Age motif.

Don't know anything about komdrig's mod. Does it have officers? Is it based on Lancer's mod? If not, no enhanced officers.

Yes, I think it gives away more info than one would normally have. No biggie however.

I want to play.

You have not stated version to play. I assume 215i, but it would be good to see that in writing.

'Realistic Officers' option.
You can no longer recruit endless officers and cherry pick the very best. Like every other Commander in the world, you have to work with what you've got (there are reasonable limits placed on the number of Officers). This restriction is, as indicated, optional.

You should play around with the mod a bit to see what it does.

But basically you can only recruit a certain number before getting penalties.

I believe Allan intends to play with "realistic" officers.

Direct link to mod if you need it:
http://advancedtactics.org/upload3/Enha ... 215e.atzip (compatible with 2.15i)

I have made some maps per our specs, and I think that the full climate range leads to that the majority of cities are located in a narrow band with temperate climate.

Perhaps we should consider a temperate climate everywhere so as to get the cities spread out.

Thanks for that insight! I've noticed that map behavior before but did not realize it was caused by selecting full range climate.
