Close Combat Website?

Post by Platoon_Michael »

Hello,
So I guess I'll be the first to ask...........

Who runs the Close Combat Website?
It states at the Top "proudly hosted by Matrix Games and Strategy3tactics"
Most of us seem to believe that it was shrecken who set the site up and was maintaining it,and that it possibly appears he is AWOL.
It looks as if the last time the site was updated was March of 2013.

The reason I ask is that its possible (Not definite yet) that Mooxe is considering shutting down his Close Combat Series site after 10 years and many of us who visit that site are worried about where will we go for any of the downloads he has graciously hosted for years.

Should it indeed close down will the Close Combat Website be able to host any of the Mods made for the re-releases?
There are quite a few Mods made since 2013 that are not currently hosted.
I'd say the most notable would be Meuse for tLD and GJS for LSA

The 2nd point I like to know is would Matrix be in any way interested in possibly having a simple ftp site for all the other original CC stuff that's hosted at CCS?
Mods/Maps/Tools/Files
Were talking of hard work by many people who have spent hours, weeks, months and even years working to improve/change the way CC has become.
When WaR first came out you guys had included on the Product page the advantages of all the Mods available from the CC community,It has since been removed and I understand that.

But should the day come when the CC Series site is closed I'm asking you........."Are you gonna be there for us?"

Will you host the Mods for not only the re-releases but the original series as well?

I assume you mean http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/? I will have to check and see what the current plan is for that site long term, but I do not think there are plans to expand it at this time. If there is a need for community mod and file hosting, I will see what I can do though.

Thanks P/M. We all were going in every direction if the hammer came down at CCS, except coming out and asking about here.

Now we may have an idea regarding the long term plans of Schrecken's old site. TY for asking that as well and Thanks Steve for the answer, though would have been better if it was a different answer.

Hi All,

Well after a long hiatus, much illness and other stuff, its strange this email came in. I have been working on rebuilding CSO for a while now, porting the old forums to new server, new CMS etc. www.closecombat.org will be back online full time in the near future. Who knows it may even spur CSS to carry on ;)

More anon.....
