Luftwaffe replacements/upgrades

Post by stevehall1963 »

Hi

Propably the first of many questions so please forgive me if they are sometimes bordering on "silly"

1. When an LW Unit has many damaged planes Max 40 Ready =19 Damaged = 21. If there are planes in the Pool is it better to send the unit back to the national Reserve to swap out the damaged or not ?

2. If a plane has an upgrade path e.g He111H-4 to HE111H-6 and there is a number of HE111H-6 in the pool is it better to manually swap the H-4 to H-6 or let it happen via the swap out logic.

Thanks in advance
Steve.

THe unit is perfectly able to repair the damaged aircraft as long as you do not oveload the airbase .

Manual swap, but it better to refrain from presing aircraft straight from the asembly line into combat.
In the first 5 months reliabilty is poored than shown .

H4-to H6 case , the improvement is minimal and the aircraft is still worse than the old JU-88A.

Indeed, in 1941-42 the only German level bomber which can keep up with the Ju-88 is the Do-217 E2 and you just don't get enough of those. The production amount of Ju-88s is enough to switch nearly the entire bomber force to it down the road.

Ju-88's, right. Quickly you can be 100% the better spec'd piece, as you can for several others. Guess WitE gives, Germans at least, a lot of premium replacement pieces. Do-217, Me-262, Ju-88D1, etc., different stories. Not sure any attention here makes a difference, though.

In all seriousness, when one bears in mind the scale of the game, does the qualitative difference of the JU-88 over the HE111 matter? Let alone the improvement offered by an H6 over an H4?

Actually it does in 1941, unless my impression is all wrong. If you utilize interdiction the Ju-88 suffers fewer losses due to the higher speed. It is only marginally slower (about 3 MPH) compared to the I-series of Soviet fighters which make up the bulk of the planes in the early going.

Heavy maintenance beast , full strength bomber group takes up 177 suport squads compared with 130 for JU-88.
the total number of bomber aircraft a airbase can support is 76 for the he-111 and Ju-88, since for most of
1941 your bomber groups are understrenght ,that is not a isuee in 1941 , but becomes one in 1942.
