stream crossing map data bugs

Post by WildCatNL »

Hi,

three of the .fp9 maps have missing obstacle id's near a stream, although the graphic map is displaying an uninterrupted stream. This potentially allows units to cross the stream as if there were a bridge on that position. Should be an easy fix.

- CS 1 Red Storm: hex 1222, should be labeled with obstacle id 3
- Red Storm 11: hex 2723, should be labeled with obstacle id 2
- Red Storm 10: hex 3801, should be labeled with obstacle id 2

Kind regards,

William

Good catch. I have forwarded these up the chain to have the correction made.

William, are you seeing this with your bridge marker code for the maps? We want to implement a similar tool in the scenario editor to help locate all of the maps. Just need some " free" time to do all these cool little things.

Thanks for info.

These missing obstacle id's showed up in my render tool because I'm drawing streams only along the side shared by two hexes with different obstacle id's. I wasn't seeing a stream for the hexes listed above.

In case you plan to extend the map values editor to run checks for "poorly" annotated streams, the check would for obstacle id's in all hexes having a blue stream hex side, unless the hex on the other side is a lake/river.

Wrt bridge checks: I ended up checking for stream bridges and lake/river bridges separately, because stream bridges involve a road between two different obstacle ids, whereas river/lake bridges involve roads going to/from/through a lake cell (obstacle id 9).

It would be cool to have the time to have the map editor do a sanity check render similar to how you make the maps to see/detect errors in the map. Again more great ideas than time to do them right now. [;)]
