New Eastern Front Scenario: "Objective Taganrog" is available for download

Scenario Background:

10 Oct 1941
Semi-Historical Scenario*

The German 1st Panzer Army is driving on the critical port city of Rostov on the Sea of Azov as part of a larger operation along the southwest front of Army Group South.

The key to conducting offensive operations against Rostov is seizing the vital Mius river crossings near Taganrog and the port in that city to prevent naval reinforcement of the Soviet Mius River Line.

14 Panzer division is to lead this attack and has been given an ambitious timetable of completing all objectives within three days.

Opposing them are elements of two Soviet Rifle divisions. Their mission is to hold these objectives for as long as possible while behind them the Soviet front reorganizes.


* Semi-historical because troop placement and force structure below which divisions particiapted is hypothetical.

Thanks Parmenio for downloading and let me know how it goes. Much smaller map and forces. Germans are fun to play and the Soviets can be challenging if you choose them. I scored my first draw with them recently.

Decisive victory as the Germans. I ignored the Daryevka Bridges entirely and just went for Mius, Taganrog and Yekaterinovka. I suspect a human player would have punished my strung-out supply lines severely and counter-attacked to retake the Mius River bridges. Worth a go as the Soviets next I think

Nice. Soviets are fun to play in this. When playing as the Germans, I've seen the Soviets launch the first attack and hit KG Bassler from the north over the Mius and then from Nosovo in the south. Tied me up west of the Mius for hours until German reinforcements arrived. Then I had to push them back and rush for Taganrog on the 2nd day.

playing with soviets is a mess.
On D1 Germans have shocked my battalion deployed on the Mius bank
Now I'm trying to save the situation, trying to counterattack from Nosovo

but it's a mess

can I give you a suggestion?
To add more replayability, you could set
- more random timings of reinf arrivals, like D1 08-30-1030
- more random arrival locations (from east, north, etc)
- more random strenght of reinforcements

And the same as far germans!

It's a what if scenarios, I think you are allowed to do so

Hi,
played again as soviets
(PC stolen, I've interrupted my first game as soviet)

I've counteraccked from nosovo through Gruzinov - towards Miur bridge - on the evening of day 1
That poor bn has suffered a lot of casualties, but gaining some hours

I've lost Miur banks during day 2

then, an armoured german raid through yekatarinovka, and then towards severny-taganrog forced me to retreat to the outskirts of taganrog, and severny, facing northeast
and southern buildings of nikolaevka

I've defended taganrog also with arty, Hq and base units!

got a draw

played painfully realistic
less supply for soviets, standard supply for germans
beta 72

suggestions?
- add more replayability

Hi Ulisin! Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely go back through these scenarios and make some of these suggestions. For the upcoming Tartar Ditch scenario and for both of the Riga scenarios I've added some range to the reinforcement times which makes it very unpredictable and for the Riga scenarios there is also a Favor Axis and Favor Allies reinforcement schedule.

OK I have found it !!!!!

Hi, I have d/l the files for this Scenario & also the Tartar Ditch but when I try to run them I get a message that I require version 4 of BFTB. I can't find a later version than 44263 which according to the Matrix site is the latest update.

Can someone enlighten me please ?
