Thanks [:)]

Lessons learnt so far

For attacks that have a long move to the location of the FUP, its usually best to move them to the FUP with a move order, and await for them to arrive before issuing an attack order.

Alternatively un-checking the "stragglers" box may have the desired effect of the whole force moving to the FUP as a cohesive formation, then the assault elements forming up, and moving off from the FUP location, instead of the Rear guard location.
More experiments need to be done to confirm this.

I've been mixing up my symbols.
Either you don't notice, you were to polite to say anything, or you were thinking WTF [&:]

I changed from military symbols to the stylized symbols in game when I started doing AAR's this was so as not to exclude the people that don't know their symbols from understanding what was going on.
I like to think I'm bilingual when it comes to symbols, but now I am beginning to wonder [:D]

as with other comments, this is a superb resource for anyone getting to grips with the game (as well as a good AAR in its own right)

fascinating to see how you are bringing all the parts together ... as well as the various ways the game models the friction inherent on the battlefield.

The Big Show coming up. It's been an extremely fluid, controlled textbook success so far. Very impressive. I wonder if there's anyone in Muntzenich?

I had a hard day at work today, so sorry about the slow update.

Hurray!! A surrender. Didn't expect that. F***ing brilliant, Daz. You get the Master Tactician's medal. It's been a great AAR, superbly instructive and thoroughly entertaining. Many thanks for posting it.

You're not going to be too welcome in Mutzenich, once all this is over.... Ruthless! Did you not even pause to consider the possible civilian casualties? Lol.

Thanks for your lovely comments guys.

I hope you all enjoyed the battle as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you.

Its always nice to get a win, and I think this is the best I have ever done as far as final results go.
It must have been the pressure of having an audience that made me concentrate just that little bit harder.

Also having to write up what is happening, and keeping a record of things helps to keep your brain in order.
I often found myself looking back through my posts, on what had been happening strategically, especially with regard to Intel.

There is a few strange, minor things, that happened after the patch, that I have saves for, that I will post about in the Tech support forum when I get time.

I am still considering doing that Regimental attack as well, but I'm going to take a break for a bit now.
The wife has been starting to feel very lonely in the evenings since Christmas. The nights are cold here at the moment, and I think she misses the shared bodily warmth [;)]

this has been brilliant, thank you.

Gives a really good idea of how to manage the flow of a battle in command terms. In places you clearly took a very micro-view but even then kept the OOB logical so you could put it back together again.

That last assault, with all your artillery concentrated, sounds impressive to watch.

I've been following this as you went I wouldn't mind seeing this stickied as it provides a nice example of the level of planning and management that the player can use with the game.

I finished this scenario, but only achieved a draw. My overall approach was similar, but I didn't utilized artillery nearly as effectively as you, nor did I protect my units as well.

Nicely done.

Very impressive AAR and result, particularly the low casualties for such an inexperienced force.

One question: any idea what the 5 AFV losses due to "other" are? Maybe I missed it, but your Panzerjaeger seem to be OK in the last screenshot.

It's also good to see that the AI seems to be more likely to surrender, which will help with the situations where the only reason you're not getting a Decisive Victory is because you didn't start the capture timers for some villages on time.
