Naval Guns Museum in Viña del Mar, Chile

Post by Maglio »

Hi all,
Summer holidays have arrived in the southern hemisphere and I have taken nice sunny pictures of some of the pieces displayed in the Naval Guns Museum located in the shore promenade in Viña del Mar, Chile, just in front of the relocated Navy War College.

The museum displays pieces from ex-USN ships sold to Chile after WW2 and from the ships that participated in the War of the Pacific between Chile, Bolivia and Peru from 1879 to 1884.

Unfortunately I’m lazy enough to not resample them for a single posting, so I´ll post one at a time.

This First one is a general view of the museum.

A 5/25 in also from the Brooklyns

I helped firing one of these on the O´Higgins as a very young cadet.

Slightly off topic, these are my kids on one of the 6 in secondary mounts of our beloved BB Almirante Latorre that served in the Home Fleet at Jutland as HMS Canada.
