Search and Seizure error?

Post by dplummer »

Experienced my first search and seizure phase and after Germany elects to pursue I end up with the end phase button still grayed out but no apparent action to take.

Either a) ID - 10 - T error

or b) system error.

Anyone know which?

Save file is attached.

Thanks.

Yes that save seems to be unable to proceed. Do you have one (or an autosave) from just prior? Who was searching and seizing and in what sea zone?

Thanks.

End of Production for USSR attached.

A) Finalize Production
B) Search and Seziure - Germany, only option Biscay
C) Execute Search

...

and there you are.

Thanks.

Thanks for posting that. It's a bug but it shouldn't affect your game.

Here's the rule from RAC:
You can stop major powers on the other side that you are not at war with from transporting resources (and build points; see 13.6.4) overseas to major powers you are at war with. To do this:

You must have an SCS, CV or SUB in the sea area during the production step;

The major power you are not at war with must have convoy points there that are transporting resources (or build points) to a major power you are at war with; and

There must not be an SCS, CV or aircraft unit with an air-to-sea factor, controlled by a major power you are at war with, in the sea area (or a U.S. unit that can escort there because of U.S. entry options 11, 20, 29, 38 or 50; see 13.3.2).
You can then execute a search and seizure if you want to. If you do so, those resources (or build points) are lost. Each search and seizure you execute is a U.S. entry action (see 13.3.3) if it is conducted against a major power not at war with the USA.
But there are several problems that contravene the rule:
The CW is doing the transporting in that sea zone and Germany is at war with the CW. And the US is prohibited from doing the transporting until they pass the right entry actions, so there are no US convoys there to search and seize from.

So it should not affect your game because it should not have been offered to the German player. Just choose OK-Done instead of Search and Seize.

In the meantime it's on the bug list.
