Matrix Games Compatibility

If you own Windows 8, you're probably running many of your Matrix Games in its compatibility (retro) mode.

So what OS have you chosen to run your favorite games? Windows 7, Vista or XP?

Windows 7 has always worked for me.

I have windows 8, but run the recent Matrix titles in Windows 7, while older ones I run in Windows XP compatibility mode.

Well, what Matrix games have you found works best under what OS?
This may save me the trouble of having to repeat all your trial and error.

The last one was WITP using Win 7 compatibility. I think service pack 2 (maybe 3).

Trial and error is the only sure fire way if you are using systems that are not identical.

I am running in Win 7 - so far only Napoleon in Italy and Campaigns on the Danube i have needed to run with some compat settings

I have Hornet Leader too but because it has some ridiculous design element which means it can only ever be in a resolution that suits desktop monitors, i cant play it on my laptop in win 7, but i can run it in VMWARE Player with an guest XP os - this doesnt reduce the unfriendly resolution but vmware will at least let me scroll the screen up and down so i can play the game well enough

The vast majority of our games work fine on Windows 8, per our testing. For the rest, Run as Administrator / Compatibility mode generally resolves the issue. We're in the process of updating the gold masters for those that need any additional work and updating the store pages for the back catalog to explicitly note Windows 8 compatibility. In general though, if it's listed as fine for Windows 7 it will also work on Windows 8.

I am the odd ball out, still running Vista 64 and have not found a game it wont run yet. Ain't never had a issue with it either. Runs all Matrix titles without a hitch. Course I cannot remember the last non Matrix game I bought, been way too long on that one.

All my computers (5 Desktops and 3 laptops) at home are running Windows 8 (64bit) except my own main Gaming Computer. I decided to stick to Win 7 (64bit) as it works perfectly and runs anything I install on it. The last thing I want to do is spend hours configuring every single game I have to run in Win 8. Eventually I will upgrade to Win 8 but for now I am with Win 7. I do also have 32 Gigs of Ram on my Gaming Computer, so I see no reason for me to have issues upgrading, just don't want to stress myself right now upgrading.

7...The only game that I had severe issues getting to run was an old hack and slash called Nox. I could get it to run 1 time after install then it wouldn't run again.

GOG helped solve that for me by updating it to be friendlier to modern systems.

Everything else I can get running either through compatibility mode or using DOSBOX.
