Organic support units of armoured units?

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Organic support units of armoured units?

Post by Perturabo »

What is the best way to organize their estabs?

For example a StuG battery from 1942 is supposed to have:
7 StuG III assault guns
3 Sd Kfz 250/3 Ammunition transports with a Sd Ah 32 trailer.
1 heavy evacuation vehicle Sd Kfz 9.
13 3 ton trucks.
2 2 ton trucks.
1 medium AA terrain vehicle Kfz 4
3 medium radio terrain vehicles Kfz 15
1 light technical vehicle Kfz 2/40
1 light terrain vehicle Kubelwagen Kfz 1
10 motorcycles
1 tank transporter Sd Ah 116

2 MG-34
7 MP-38
63 Kar98k
63 pistols

How to organize a similar unit in game to make it work realistically?

Put the stug's and their crews in the battery unit, and put everything else in the base or maybe HQ.

Base that would be subordinate to the battery?

The battery is a company sized unit. Maybe the 1942 estab is different than the '44, but the '44 stug brigade is in the game. Basically a brigade HQ, 3 batteries, and a base unit. Like I said, I think it's already there, but with later model vehicles.

In 1944 here 40 men of StuG crews + 60 men of support.
In 1942 it's 28 men of StuG crews + 100 men of support.
That's why it's a company-sized unit.

Infantry companies carry their support with them.
