Wasting torpedos on old contacts

I'm playing Red Storm, Build 480.

My Sub is wasting torpedos on a Sub contact that is several hours old. Well, I could drop the contact to prevent this, but I want to Keep the old contact as refernce. Is it realy intended that a Sub ihres at old contatcs?

Nearly half of my airfleet got lost because the have run out of fuel. There was no problems in the beginning of the game. But some hours into the scenario it seemed they were no longer able to manage in air refueling. Seems that I did not get the smart guys in my aircrew?
Aircraft even tried to get to a crowded tanker, which was farther away than the carrier! I even tried t give them a "RTB" command, but this was ignored.
