V1.01 is fine V1.02 will not start

Post by kneecaps »

Hello all.
I purchased yesterday and installed and upgraded straight to 1.02. Had difficulties starting and crashes when pressing 'Start new scenario'.

Thought this may be related to the low spec of my current machine, so tried the same on much beefier i7 machine. Same issue!!

So I removed everything, re-installed and tried with the base 1.01 install. This loaded rapidly and I managed to get into scenarios without problem. Then upgraded to 1.02 and the issue describe above started happening again.

I have the latest direct 9 and .NET 4.5 installed....

Any ideas please?

Go into your Command folder and delete you command.ini file. Restart and let us know what happens.

Thanks for the information.

Tried this and it doesn't seem to have changed much. The initial screen and menu appears but soon a windows error comes up. The second launch just waits on the command loading screen forever.

However if I again delete the command.ini then the main screen/menu launches again followed quickly by the error.

I have a screenshot but cannot seem to see how to upload it..

If you can run the prereqs again. This screams an issue with them. You do this by navigating to the command directory and clicking on the executable to run them.

If you installed Command to the default location:

C:\Matrix Games\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\PreRequisites\
Run dotNetFx45_Full_setup

Then go here C:\Matrix Games\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\PreRequisites\directx_mar2009_redist
and Run DXSetup

Please reboot after.

Let me know how it goes. I want to make sure you're up and running.

Thanks!

Hi, thanks again for the advice. The strange thing is if I uninstall, and reinstall I can run on the non-upgraded version without difficulty.

Also, is there any significance that on the base install (which I think should be 1.01) the version shows as 1.00? (despite the download and installer saying 1.01).

Well it shouldn't matter. You should be able to apply the newest update to the base product without grabbing 1.01.

Is your copy installed to the default location or did you specify another location?

You can also try and manually installing by grabbing the download from here:

Thanks and let me know how it goes.

Hello,
I tried reinstalling the the pre-reqs as suggested. Each time 4.5 gave me a 'Repair only' option implying that it was already installed. Did the repair. Also ran the DX setup.

No change.

My base download is the following CommandModernAirNavalOperations-SetupRelease-v1.01.exe (plus 2 files) , which I then upgrade to 1.02. Is there some way to get 1.00 and then run the 1.01 and 1.02 patches?

Another test, experiment. My v1.01 base installer...actually reports v1.00 when installed and running. I use the 1.01 updater (and it says 'you are already at v1.01, do you want to reinstall?'). I go ahead and do this, and then I do get v1.01 reported when running. This works fine.

Things stop working when I install the v1.02 update..

Please grab the 1.02 file and reinstall with it (instead of hitting the button in the menu). You can find it here:

http://matrixgames.com/products/483/downloads/

Please make sure to install the prerequisites.

Let me know how it goes and I apologize if you've done this but would like to make sure the bases are covered.

What version of windows do you have and are you update to date with your windows updates?

Sorry again for all the trouble this is giving you.

Hello,
I have only updated to v1.02 from the stand alone updater. I didn't even know there was an update button.

I've tried the same process on two different machines, and interestingly in a VM on one of the same machines. Each time all is well until I install the v1.02 update.

All installs have been on Windows 7 Ultimate. All have the most recent updates as far as I'm aware.

I'm confused/concerned by why my base install, is listed in the installer as 1.01 but when running shows as v1.00 ...is there perhaps some issue with the upgrade patch from the base install to v1.02?

I'm wondering if the majority of players had the original 1.00 installer, upgraded to 1.01 and then 1.02.

I cannot help but feel there is something not quite right with the 1.01 base installer (given as how when running it reports 1.00)

Nothing to be sorry about, just one of these things. :)

Did you install it to the default location or are you specifying a different directory?

You mentioned that the problems appear when you load scenarios. Could you please elaborate on that?

Hello,
So once updated to 1.02, Command loads (most of the time) to the main screen with the globe and menu. It's when I click Start or Load that the application freezes (with the loading circle spinning forever). Eventually windows presents the "Error has occurred do you want to send details" dialog.

This only happens when running on 1.02. I don't have this issue on 1.00 or 1.01.
