HOLIDAY SALE Command Ops

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

A second "just to let you know"..
The game is well worth it. I often judge the worth by how active the forum is, and this one has slowed down, but that is only because most of us are waiting on a patch. The game engine is a definite "buy" if anyone is interested in the subject material.
Just posting this because it would be a shame to pass on this just because the forum is a bit slow the past few weeks. It will pick up soon.

Saw the two Command Ops titles in the sale and bought them both. Waiting for the patch to dive in. Any tips for my first of this type game?

If you haven't seen them, the Game Concepts and the Tutorial series videos are a must see.

You can watch them on the Panther Games Youtube channel here:

Watch the videos..though remember the game has changed abit under the hood since then so the results wont be the same but it gives you a good foundation on how to play.

Pick one of the small scenarios and try things out..DON'T have the game running to fast as you loose alot of immersion. Play with realistic order delay (not sure if anyone plays anything else and it's hhow the scenarios are balanced.

Read some AAR's and ask questions.

You're a bit of a masochist, Phoenix [:'(]

A relatively low complexity scenario, challenging and allowing several playthroughs, is "Skorzeny's Bid for Glory" for BFTB and for HTTR, maybe, "Joe's Bridge". Hofen, while the first scenario in the BFTB timeline, isn't really the first scenario I'd recommend to play [:)]

Oh. I never thought of myself like that....[:'(]

I suppose it did take many times before I could win it. But that's challenging!

The sale is also good for picking up second copies to introduce new players (like my son)

The more the merrier, even though Dad and Son may disagree on some generational principles ;-).
Take care,

I just purchased it too, so that makes the first Red Devils over Arnhem game they released many many years ago, HttR which was an awesome step up and Conquest of the Aegean; however funnily enough I never did get Bulge when it was released. I think that could well have been the initial price tag they were asking however; it seemed quite expensive. Just brought this holiday sale BFTB and the HTTR expansion, and loving the new supply aspect with HTTR. Having to keep my supply lanes open is much more challenging.
Great series folks.
