Dropping Sonobuoy

When setting an AWS Patrol, how do you get the aircraft to deploy their sonobuoys automatically, as observed in some scenarios.

They should drop as long as they have them and your search area is wide enough to accomodate lines with bouys 1.5 sonar range apart.

You can always manually drop with the hot keys if necesary.

Can you explain further how they drop automattically. Do you mean I must add reference points for the aircraft to follow and they will drop them automattically

Yeah although you define the asw patrol area by dropping 4 reference points.

Do you know how to set up a mission in the mission editor?

Are you sure your patrol aircraft/helicopter have sonobuoys? Some loadouts have only depth charges and use dipping sonar. Which aircraft you are using?

Also make sure you have sonobuoys visible, you may be dropping them but they have been turned off under the options, so not shown on the map.

You really can't miss an aircraft with sonobuoys put on an active ASW mission. They'll fill the zone with buoys, toot sweet (thank goodness for dimmed SB icons!).

Is it possible to have an asw patrol with just 2 points and still have them drop buoys? So we can drop them in a line?

Instead of reference points I was plotting a course. Thats's why no auto bouys. I guess you can use reference points for CAP also.
