Carrier Flight OPs ?

Post by santino250 »

HI again

Will someone please explain what determines if you have offensive flight ops??

I have a TF that just left Pearl, and has full sorties, but shows no OP points??

Even after I have attcked another TF, what makes the offensive ops stop? Especially if there are still plenty of sorties left....

Why do they do defensive flight Ops but not offensive??

I have been playing this for a couple of years, and still can't figure it out...

A little confused by what you are asking. OP points shown are an indicator of actions completed. For example if you refueled at sea you would then see anywhere from 250 to 500 OP points spent. As far as I know these points do not have any direct influence on air operations.

There are other factors though, sorties left, leadership, morale, fatigue, mission selected, detection level of the enemy, size of the enemy force, weather, that all determine if you will have an offensive strike mission fly.

Thanks for the response

I have plenty of sorties left... fatigue is @15, MORAL IS HIGH, Halsey is TF commander...

I have DB & TB set to naval attack, with 20% naval search, plus Crusier aircraft doing same...

Weather was ok... I followed them back to Japan... Days 1 & 2 attacks went well, but after that no attacks on their TF.. I had destroyed all of the enemys Aircraft, but mine would not attack.. they would fly defensive ops but not offensive...

2 severly damaged Carriers escaped after I hit one with 9 bombs, the other with 5 bombs and 2 torps...

Are you still in range? Could they be just outside the range of your strike aircraft, but still detectable?

I'm not sure, but if they are outside of fighter escort range, would strike aircraft fly against carriers without escorts?
